Southern Thracia was royally fucked over anyway, he needed the resources of the propserous Northern half just to feed his people, and had been doing mercenary work up until that point for the same reason.
Whilst he had to cede Northern Thracia over to Blume after he finally conquered it, that allowed him to still keep autonomy over Southern Thracia and keep them free from the child hunts.
At the end he even sees where the war is going and knows the merge will have a better chance under Altenna and Aerone then if he were still alive. He pretty much kills himself for the sake of his people.

The issue is that Micaiah's struggle as a Branded is never properly explored. You get a few glimpses but no real meat because the Branded sub plot ended up on the cutting room floor for the most part to meet the deadline for Wii launch.All of Stefan's set up wasted. We're never given a glimpse at the branded village in the desert. The Wolf Queen is never utilized as a Laguz Royal who speaks in their defense because of how her kingdom is structured. Soren wasn't forced to abandon Ike for the sake of his social status in Crimea by nobles who realize he's branded and want to discredit Ike for it, only to learn that Ike himself abandons him nobility

Not really. While the majority of the Branded persecution can be ultimately traced back on Altina, Lehran, Soan, and Dheingsea purposely fanning the flames it's implied that the Laguz instinctively know that there's something different about the Branded even if they can't pin down exactly what it is. So it's bad combination of them following instincts and following their own in-universe lore. Though neither one is an real excuse for them treating the Branded badly.

No it wouldn't. Only in the naive "fairy tale" idea of how a country should act. It's far more human in the setting for people to turn on their saviors. That's what the entire Crimean campaign focuses in RD. That people still value "birth" over "deeds"
Also I'm not saying that it'd be some big overblown BURN THE WITCH kind of deal, it'd be a far more subtle affair. Daien needs to rebuild and has a new king. The scandal that would come of the "hero" of the kingdom being a filthy half breed would likely cause damage to the recovery. Far better for the "hero" to fade into the shadows.
