Stats literally doesn't matter unless you want to min-max which again doesn't matter. The endgame gear (BBI post game content) will basically give you all of the stats you will ever need.
The game highly encourage switching classes as you feel like it. If your character lack the stats then buy better equipment. If you can't buy the equipment then get better pawns and give them better equipment. If you can't get better pawns then git gud. If you can't git gud then there is very little chance of you sticking with the assassin class (best attack increase from level 1 to 100) anyway which is what most people min-max with.
