This is a website for hating popular things, why don't newfags get this?
>>
/v/ has a refined pallette that is hard to please. Think wine connoisseur that dislikes those cartons of cheap chardonnay. Problem is cheap chardonnay is popular otherwise it wouldn't exist. So people call the connoisseur pretentious and stuck up. And that's true. /v/ is pretentious and nitpicky. But that doesn't mean /v/ is wrong it just means it cares about games and quality. Seeing a vat of napoleon brandy being mixed with lemonade and being sold in wetherspoons would make the connoisseur cringe. Seeing derivative games become popular makes /v/ cringe because devs respond to this demand by creating more derivative games.

After a day at work listening to people call themselves gamers because they play mobile games or the latest doody franchise I like to hear /v/ rail its sycophantic and psychotic opinions because it reminds me: candy crush or civilization2 we are all still gamers no matter how much I hate it. But at least somewhere there is someone still fighting the good fight and backing my opinions even if we are powerless to do anything. Like Ben kenobi quietly watching the collapse of freedom and the ascendency of the empire from a bolthole on tatooine only daring to hope that one day things might change. Just have to keep surviving and believing and rallying whoever you can to the cause because one day it might change. But we will always have our memories.
>>
plenty of people on /v/ liked undertale before it started getting a lot of coverage

the problem is that you're all contrarians.
>>
>>323429134

/v/ are wine connoisseurs? Makes sense. A bunch of people nitpicking about shit they don't really understand in order to appear superior.

>>
>>323429371
There are still plenty of people on /v/ who like Undertale. The thing is, you're not seeing those people posting because they played it when it came out and they all got done talking about it then before moving on to playing something else. The people who are talking about it now are the ones who hate it because it's still being discussed as a significant game of 2015.

/v/ is not one person. There are lots of opinions represented here. The board does tend to come to a rough consensus about many things over time but there are always outliers whatever that may be. Just keep in mind that whatever opinion you're seeing most is what's being pushed the hardest and shouted the loudest, not the universal opinion of everyone who posts here.

/v/ produces a pretty big "Streisand effect" with shit.

things we can directly thank /v/ for amplifying, despite trying not to:

It's more like, hobbyists have more developed taste and can recognize nuance that mass consumers miss. IE genuine chocolate lovers prefer dark chocolate because it tastes more like the primary ingredient, chocolate, and allows for more complex tastes; however, sugary, over sweet milk chocolate sells more because it's cheaper and tastes "good". But milk chocolate is so much cheaper because it contains less chocolate.

If you mean banning retards like you who scream boogeyman every time they are confronted by something they don't like and are too idiotic to understand things in a not black-or-white way then the quality would drastically improve.

I don't think browsing both is a big deal, the retarded part is that you think people actually care whether you do or not.

The even more retarded is that you try to fit in on an anonymous image board acting like it is cool to hate on reddit.

>haha he must be le trolling there's no way people aren't redditor plebs like me :^)
>>
Why 4chanitors hate redditors so much?
>>
>>323433654
Because the communities have antithetical purposes.
>>
>>323436353
Reddit = "think of how to be hip with the bacon and appeal to the community and score loads of karma"
4chan = "lash out with whatever Id-grade emotions are brewing in my amygdala and cause a riot fistfight"
>>
>>323429448
I keep seeing this argument, but 2 Buck Chuck is literally just random wine which is bought cheap and sold cheap. It just so happened that the quality differs widely from batch to batch. So that particular batch was from a good vintage.
>>
>>323431217
By saying that you try to legitimate reddit's place on this board, but Reddit is not welcome for the simple reason, that Reddit works on recognition of your own post (aka, upvote/downvote).
On 4chan you are a nobody and shall stay a nobody for your post to have any value. /v/'s goal is not to create meme despite what Redditors may think.

tl;dr GTFO
>>
>>323436353
How so? You implying that getting Karma on reddit is any different from getting (You)'s on 4chan?
>>
>>323433654
Reddits steals content from here shamelessly and runs our jokes to the ground.
Also basically this >>323436353
4chan is to share opinions, images, content, etc. without having a name or identity tied to you, on Reddit genuine discussion is often drowned out by retards trying to appeal to the other retards by posting the quirky likeable things the majority wants to hear and in the end it turns into a circlejerk/hugbox. I don't browse reddit but occasionally I stumble upon it while looking for stuff, and I found out the only acceptable subreddits are the low traffic ones, while big ones like r/gaming are always pure cancer, simply because the site's very layout and working encourages attention whores to try appeal to the masses of idiots and the more people there are the louder the idiots scream and drown out discussion.
>>
>>323436976
>Reddit gets 50 upvotes
>This is a good post/funny post/bad post/meme post

>4chan gets 50 Replies/(You)'s
>This is a good post/funny post/bad post/meme post

I don't see any fucking difference and I find the idea of Reddit fucking stupid. I go on it to find sports streams cause /sp/ has nazi mods who ban you for linking streams and there is an entire page on reddit giving out links. But I have no idea how to browse reddit, even if I wanted to.

4chan is popular because it's easier to use.

You are still a nobody. And as nobody is supposed to know who you are and how many posts you've already made, a post a little value beyond what readers put in it. You take into account the content and not what people thought about it. Reaction images are not a marker of a good post but more of a good joke/lame answer. You don't browse /v/ for those.

OC used to be the motto of 4chan and the most important thing.
