Going to buy a new arcade stick with SFV.

There are 3 options in my mind:

>HORI RAP.V Kai (http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Arcade-Pro-V-Fighting-Stick-Windows/dp/B0136JP894/ref=sr_1_28?ie=UTF8)

>Qanba Q4 RAF (http://www.amazon.com/Qanba-Q4-Q4RAF-Black-Fightstick/dp/B007SGGLZW/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8)

>Mad Catz TE S+ (http://www.amazon.com/Catz-Arcade-FightStick-Tournament-Xbox-360/dp/B011DBHLOM/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8)

Any recommendations? Price doesn't matter between these 3.
>>
Gonna use it on Windows 10 PC btw.
>>
Just a word of advice. If you get any of the RAP series make sure you are ok with a Square gate because putting in an octagonal gate into one is a pain in the ass.
>>
>>323402017
Didn't know that, thx.
>>
>>323402017

True, but a square gate is fine.
>>
I have a q4 and can recommend it op. Good stick and the ps3/360 switch has come in useful.

Yeah, for some it isn't though or is a bit of a surprise. There are some easier to install ones but they're from third parties and are out of stock like 99.99% of time. Fucking Hori.

Should be coming out soon--might be worth waiting for.
>>
Wait until a major tourney if you're picking up a Madcatz. They usually have a decent deal on them. Qanba is usually like only 15 bucks off if I recall.

Too bad Madcatz PS3 sticks aren't compatible with PS4, though if I recall if you swap the PCB board for the Akishop PS360+, it's compatible with PS4.
>>
I own a Hori RAP4Kai, and it was the biggest waste of money I've ever spent.

If you don't play fighters that rely heavily on plinking, all you're doing by switching to one is shooting yourself in the foot. The joystick part is detrimental to your performance because you have to move it much further than you would a d-pad for inputs to register. Their tactility is also horrible -- you're supposed to ride the gate as little as possible and rely on intuitive to know where each input starts.
>>
>>323402951

One should not adopt stick purely for competitive edge.
>>
Hori or TE-S. Basically, even if you're playing on PC it's best to get a ps4 stick since that's what it's going to be run on locally.

I've used TE2s and they're trash.

Why? Because of the hayabusa stick?

I have a RAP4 Kai, I modded in an LS-32 and I'll be getting sanwa buttons as soon as I decide on a design so I know what colors to get.
>>
>>323402883
There's a PS3/PS4 PCB now that Paradise Arcade Shop will outfit with screw terminals.

Though Brooke converters apparently work very well too.
>>
>>323403112
I haven't seen an arcade cabinet in 20 years, so I don't see any other value it could have for me.
>>
http://www.focusattack.com/phreakmods-cerberus-ps4-ps3-pc-joystick-pcb/

Anyone know how well this runs? I don't own a PS4, but I do plan on picking one up eventually.
>>
>>323403501
>I haven't seen an arcade cabinet in 20 years, so I don't see any other value it could have for me.

Think of it as an aesthetic experience like using chopsticks.
>>
>>323403530
>via 1.10 firmware update, 8-minute timeout reset

It's the same as the PS360+ then.

You get 8 minutes then basically have to resync.

If you're cheap it's probably fine.

But a Brook PCB or converter is probably the better option.
>>
>>323403496

Yeah, after looking it up the PS360+ apparently has issues for the PS4. It works, but doesn't work very well.

After looking around, there's PS3/PS4/PC boards available. Cheaper too, if you don't care about playing older gen games.
>>
>>323403530
It's serviceable but not ideal. The timeout is pretty annoying, but so long as you remember to resync after every match it's fine. I've seen people lose rounds from timing out in tournament, so just don't forget.

I'm getting the new Brooks pcb asap to replace it since I won't need a 360 stuck anymore.
>>
>>323403870
There are adapters too. This one gets good reviews. I saw a guy using one at a tournament in december and it seemed fine, he wasn't dropping any links (USF4 PS4)

http://www.focusattack.com/brook-super-converter-xbox360-xbox-one-to-playstation-4-usb-adapter/
>>
>>323403965
Games like MKX freak the fuck out though - sometimes jumping out of Versus to the main menu.
>>
>>323403857
>>323403965

Yeah, it seems pretty annoying. I'll pick up the Brook PCB instead, apparently there isn't any issues with that one, but I'm not gonna worry about that until like later this year since PS3 is still commonplace (at least around my scene)

How do I gate ride less when I play? I can't help put throw the stick all the way and I feel like its slowing my execution. I'm using an oversized actuator too btw.
>>
>>323403394
To my knowledge yeah. The "standard" octagon gates people use have to be drilled out so if you don't want to have to do that bullshit the only other option is a Kowal gate but they're out of stock any and everywhere and Hori is too jewish to make Octagonal gates themselves.

Get a hitbox. If you haven't become accustomed to a stick yet anyway, you can do more with a hitbox.

You can return to neutral faster, do 360/720 easier, things like IADs become trivial. If you haven't committed to a stick it's definitely worth it.

http://www.hitboxarcade.com/
>>
>>323404678
I've found that doing true 360s and 720s can be a royal pain - for some games, and simply some situations, shortcuts aren't an option - as well as certain TK->air special inputs.

So I have an MC Cthulhu installed in my arcade stick. What is the best way to add native PS4 support? Should I swap out the Xbox 360 PCB I have wired to my IMP switch with a PS4-compatible PCB, or should I just buy one of those PS3>PS4 adapters? I pretty much never use the 360 mode for anything other than X-input on my PC.

Lots of cheapo ones go on sale all the time. Just get one of those and put in quality buttons/stick in them. Hopefully it isn't too small for you.

Pic related, turned a shitty WWE brawlstick (that came with 2 broken buttons) into a serviceable PS3 arcade stick

Do you guys like the handle stick or the ball stick better for SF? I got a Qanba Q1 because im a poor pleb

Its got a ball stick and I can't keep my hand gripped right (especially on charge characters, I let go of the stick when I do a special every god damn time)
>>
>>323405971

The cheapest stick that isn't really expensive is the Madcatz TE, usually have good sales during tourneys. It's still around like 80 bucks or so, but it's well worth it.

>>323406208

Or do what this anon said, buttons are generally pretty cheap and a lot of well known sticks are easy to customize.

Otherwise, stick with a controller or pick up a fightpad.

That's a nicer template than any I've seen, do you know where this came from?

It's a pretty simple design, I could always remake it myself I guess as long as I can figure out the fonts.
>>
>>323406831

Nope, back when I had it (gave it to my friend), all the parts were soldered together. You can't pull it apart and customize it. If you could, I'd use it because the lightweight is nice if you want something to carry around easily. I'd switch out the buttons and the stick.

I really don't recommend getting the stick, you're better off just saving your money on a Madcatz TE+ or checking around craigslist/ebay. Or just sticking with a controller, there are plenty of pros that don't use sticks.

I got a cornusmax a while back to play USF4 on PC with my Xbone TE2 but I hadnt used it in a while and noticed it wasnt working on my PS4 until I realized I hadnt even updated the firmware.

Tried out some Gg Xrd, it works now but I noticed after a a while it just stopped responding, the controller was still considered on but until I unplugged the entire adapter and inserted it again, nothing worked. Is this a common issue? I dont mind buying another fightstick for PS4 and PS3 but I'd rather not if I dont absolutely need to.

Still, seems like a pain in the ass to deal with.

The Etokki Omin's going to be your best bet for non-customs. It also works with everything, so if you have multiple systems, I highly reccomend it. I love mine to fucking bits, but my only complaint is that since it's metal, it may be a bit heavier if you're used to plastic, and it gets kind of cold in the winter if you rest it on your lap for a little bit before it warms to your body heat.
