The girl is a bit better than the male. Not that it matters because you can switch between both, but the girl's ice attacks, while doing less damage, will freeze enemies/bosses for a short period, making them pretty free.
Because I've only played through DQVIII so far. I'm working on DQIV now, then V and VI.
toriyama's art is limited to every girl looking like launch and bulma, and every boy looking like a super saiyan.
I just can't like chrono trigger, dragon quest, or blue dragon when every protag looks like goku

I was playing it but then I got bored, it's actually quite good and it shows that DQ can totally work as an action game but the stages are so goddamn repetitive and not enough rewards or bonuses to keep it interesting.
I'm waiting until the price drops, 50 bucks is a bit much.
I enjoyed Pirate Warriors 3 a lot, I hope this will keep me entertained as well.

Yeah, it's definitely one of those games I can only really play in small doses with breaks in between, but it's really fun small doses that keep me coming back.

The game was tedious and boring as shit. The combat somehow manages to have LESS depth than the average musou game. The only real challenge is in grinding gear, mitigating monster spawners, and wearing down damage sponges. Summoning monsters is nice in theory, but underwhelming in practice. Most missions are merciful and will eventually just time out to dodge their own tedium.
Having to wait for the completion tunes to fully play out on mail, quests, and other things in the flying fortress became really annoying, really fast without a skip option.
Britbong accents were kind of annoying, but that is a matter of taste.
All of the sound and art assets are well polished though. It is just like nobody attempted to play a full game from start to finish and realized how tedious everything is.
