Once a new console gen comes out, you need to shell out for a whole new console. Sure, you can sell your current one, but then you lose out on all of the games you had before. With PC you can keep running shit into the next gen by turning the settings down, or buying an upgrade that'll be cheaper than a whole new, release price console would be. You also have the benefit of not having to find space for each console you own because you only ever need one computer tower.
Long term, PC gaming is way better. Hell, thanks to emulation PCs can play more console games than consoles can.

Not to mention they'll often tone down or outright disable things like tessellation (some examples of this are Tomb Raider Definitive and Metro Redux, which don't use tessellation on consoles).
An example of this would be Uncharted 4 MP vs SP.
MP looks much MUCH worse than SP and even then it still can't sustain a constant 60 FPS while running at 900p.
