How does /v/ like LA Noire? I'm playing it for the first time again in years and I'm really enjoying it this time around. My first playthrough I didn't like it so much

It's one of my favorite games, but chart threads indicate to me that it's not a very popular opinion here.
>>
>>323324548

You're full of shit, OP.
>>
>>323324548
it is a pretty good game but I seriously think they should have just made it an adventure game and cut all of the driving around town
>>
>>323324548
I played a bit on ps trible but forgot about it

Wanted to get into it again for a while though, will pick up the peecee version when it goes for cheap or just pirate
>>
>>323324548
It starts off good but gets repetitive
That being said the atmosphere, music, and voice acting were all top notch
>>
>>323325027
I'd like it if they would of dropped all the GTA aspects (over the top violence and shooting gallery levels) I think the driving and the city over world could have worked better if they made the game more like the Mafia games and less GTA-like.
>>
>>323324548
Cole was a fucking idiot for screwing around behind his wife, yet his death felt really pointless, then again, must sacrifice endings are. Playing as jack was entertaining and Roy was the most likeable asshole ever.
>>
>>323325584
yeah, the shooting portions didn't really add much to the game
>>
>>323325584
making a game's driving like the first mafia is a long stretch though because that shit had 900 degree wheel and proper clutch support

Which begs the question of why rockstar never added at least a basic form of manual trans to GTA
>>
it's fine. It was like GTA without the fun parts. Still pissed about that cover up tho such bs
>>
>>323325584
>would of

Goddamnit just cu-ck my shit up
>>
>>323325849
>Which begs the question of why rockstar never added at least a basic form of manual trans to GTA
that sort of thing is really only for racing games IMO.
>>
>>323326230
I guess but it would be a nice extra for when you want to mess around

I'll take proper gear ratios over it though, cars in GTA games always topped out below ecobox top speed for some fucking reason
>>
Any chance of a sequel?
>>
>>323326495
i am not opposed to it as an option but is there anywhere on a controller that you can put upshift and downshift without sacrificing something else?

Mmmh, story really shines with the criminals investigations, kinda fall flat after that.

But I loved the ambiance and the city, it's huge and nicely detailed, quite impressed by the work putted into it. Shame it doesn't serve any purpose. But driving around with Jazz music is comfy as fuck.
>>
>>323326851
not likely, Aussie company that made it has gone under and rockshit got the rights. Since they can't sell sharkcards in a LA Noire 2 online. Same boat as Bully 2 and others
>>
>>323326980
With the new GTA driving schematic nope

If they re-add a fixed camera you could use the right axis, but they wont. So the only alternative is kb or wheel, but shifting on a kb is incredibly awkward and wheels are rare so its probably why rockstar wont bother

that and muh laziness
>>
It was a shit game. Open world that is not worth exploring, ridiculous face expressions that are no where near real life, characters that are bland and forgettable, quests become repetitive. Voice acting was fine but aside from that, 2/10.

I heard very well about this game, but when i started, i didnt like it very much. My personal review:

What is good:
>The interviews, clue searching and other adventure game mechanics.

What is meh:
> Cole is very bad and unlikeable character, the story progression (the one about cole, not the cases) is awful.

What is bad:
> The driving is the worst i ever played. Yeah, it was suposed to be like driving old shitty cars, but it was the most awful chunk of metal ever.
>Also, the shooting is the most generic ever.

Why exactly wouldn't Rockstar make a sequel to LA Noire or even Bully 2? I'm pretty sure there is a high demand for it
>>
the driving AI in this was fucking dreadful.
Cars used to fucking drive into me all the time.
Completely put me off the game.
>>
>>323329191
it's pretty good but it needed more gameplay to be honest.

Took me three tries to play it beyond the first 20 mins. After that, I loved it. But I had to work to not fall asleep for the first 30 mins/1hr.
>>
>>323330802

You really shouldn't judge a game based on the first 30 minutes. Hell, you're still in the tutorial
>>
>>323324548
The game and story are really good but there are occasions where the main character goes full retard that sour the whole thing a bit. But Kelso was a real human bean.
>>
>>323331337
I didn't. I just found it so boring.
>>
>>323324548
one of my favorite games, i wish it was longer and that the patrol desk was MUCH longer.

i wanted to go around solving random crimes and shit.

also there should have been a cops & robbers mode, or a mode like the online ace attourney threads where people make community cases.

Any more crime solving games like this?
>>
>>323334079
I tried to remember some, but only Condemned came to mind. But there must be others out there
>>
>>323334079
that square enix murdered: soul suspect i think
>>
>>323334510
>>323334546

Are these any good? I'm honestly surprised there aren't much crime solving games. I love the crime solving genre. Probably why Case Closed/Detective Conan is my all time favorite show
>>
>>323334764
i really love detective games. i haven't played soul suspect yet.

theres always ace attourney/professor layton
>>
>>323334764
Condemned ranges from doing detective shit to deranged horror. I usually laugh at horror stuff, but that game got me a few times
>>
>>323334079

you should look for adventure / point and click murder solving games.

Last i played was Still Life. The end is pretty intense.

Why is crime solving games so few in video games? You would think it would be one of the easiest genres to make a game for since there are so many fucking crime solving TV shows
>>
>>323336571

They arent hard to make, they are hard to sell. Remeber that your average "gamer :^)" dont want (and isnt able) to think.

True. Forgot most gamers these days want their hands held during video games and hate to think for themselves.

It's bad whenever old JRPGs (Final Fantasy for example) get released on smartphones these days because now they have auto save features and even cheats to help you get through boss fights. It's sad how stupid people have gotten these days
>>
>>323338161
It gets scarier when you realize these people are supposed to uphold society and support you in your old age in 30-40 years.
>>
i love this game

really wanna replay it but dont own it on steam

i appreciate rockstar so much for sticking to their guns and having enough integrity to publish a game with such potentially controversial topics

i'd love to see a sequel 'cause the world they created had tons of detail (so many unique buildings), but the actual graphics, even on PC, look quite poor.
>>
>>323339106
honestly the entire game was a tech demo for the faces i'm pretty sure
>>
>>323329191
You get to like Cole more and more as the story goes on. He's basically someone who fucked up big when he was young but got rewarded for it and feels constant guilt over it. He tries to forget about that part of his life and somewhat succeeds in building a new life but his past catches up to him, he fucks up again big time and loses everything he's gained so far. The ending is his final amend.

Pretty good game, but the interrogation system needed working on. At times it was fucking impossible to figure out if someone was lying or not unless you had hard evidence to back it up.

I remember in one of the cases, you talk to a neighbour, and she does nothing but lie to you. For no fucking reason. She's not an important part of the case, she has no reason to lie and it's down right impossible to tell that she is lying, but she lies anyway.
This happens way too many times. You're suppose to take hints from things like facial expressions, body language and tone of voice, but it's all done so poorly you just don't know what the fuck to make of it half of the time.

That and it has no replay value at all are the only problems I had with it.
>>
>>323339537

Yeah the interrogation system needed some serious work. It's a nice concept but the execution wasn't up to par
>>
>>323339537
>but she lies anyway
there are women like that irl, I shit you not
it's pathological
>>
>>323339537

I had trouble with the interrogations, too, until I figured out you could just stare at the suspect for like 20 seconds after they talk and they'll keep doing their visual cue if they're lying.

I'm also bad at spotting liars in real life unless it's something I know to be a lie. People say I'm too naive and trusting.
