Hey there.
Alright, so me and my team are currently in the early stages of development and programming for a brand new ALIENS vs PREDATOR Multiplayer game, and we're currently working on creating a playable demo to submit, as well as other things (such as a decent pitch)

Now, what I've noticed quite a bit, is that the AVP games tend to leave out what the fans want. And with the last good avp game being AVP2 (2001, Monolith), we've decided to take suggestions and inspiration from you guys. So i ask you this.

What do YOU want to see in a multiplayer FPS AvP game?

Side notes: we're currently working on character models at the moment, although being the new year, we're only just getting back to work on them, so please excuse the mess pictured. It's only a temporary banner.

Also, we are using the Unreal Engine 4 and have already completed a quarter of our test map, based on the crashed Engineer ship, which I will post below. Another thing I'd like to add, is that we're always looking for new recruits in different positions, so send an email to avpbreakpoint at gmail with some of your previous work. Game modes similiar to Survivor and Evac from AvP2. Who said porking was dull?

Slightly interactive levels, being able to make or block a few passages, or the level progressing on its own. Maybe incorporate 10-second lockout on doors from Alien: Isolation.

Turrets! Not the OP turrets from the film, but something weaker, that is only able to hold the line for a limited amount of time before giving out, thus giving the Marine players even more butt-clenching suspense.

Welding doors, too.

We're already putting those in!
We're thinking about having disposable sentries that can be 3D printed, but do not refill ammunition, and are somewhat flimsy. Still a working progress. Doors WILL be weldable, and depending on your species or class, you might even be able to cut the power...

Evac and Survivor will also be returning.

Because that's what kills good PC FPS, that's what killed AvP 2010.
FPS are not supposed to be playable with controllers, trying to make them that way waters them down.

Hell, I'd like a coop mode like AvP 2000 did with swarms of aliens attacking you as marines. Though it didn't have any difficulty progression after a couple of waves.

Better maps for multi (including coop). weapon pick ups should be destroyable as well as light sources. Alien controls in AvP 2 were perfect with RMB tail and headbite headshot

Sound design's gotta be top notch. The first thing people are going to do to see if this shit is worth their time is pop off some rounds in the rifle to make sure it sounds the same.
If you're gonna have the stealth kill shit from AvP 2010, don't have it fucking kill as soon as the shit starts. Give people a chance to be freed by their buddies.

Have some unique modes too. We've seen Team Deathmatch dozens of times. You have 3 unique races that can each be following their own objectives at any given time and can set up the teams in numerous ways for different modes. Have shit like 1 Yuatja and Marines are working together and the Xenos have to drop a facehugger on that Yuatja as their objective, so the predator has to balance between running like a bitch and letting his marine buddies clear house.

Oh, and large amounts of players. None of the 12 player shit that 2010 had.

Dying light MP has a decent mechanic, ish.

Your main attack is insta kill but it is heaps easy to negate it. Especially if you have team mates with you.

Aliens should flail off at a burst of gunfire but the acid blood should fuck up something REALLY bad.

No idea how you would solve that. Insta death or no insta death. Can't really get a balance as far as I can tell.

I liked the dual pistols you could get AP ammo on in the expansion. Those were a blast.

insta death is stupid game-wise. stop trying to base it on the movies since games are not movies.

try adding a maiming effect on melee attacks instead of making it OHKO. So that once you get close, escape is almost zero unless you have great teamwork.

I'd focus more on predators when it comes to balancing issues since they do too much compared to the humans that can be easily balanced because of their classes.

I have to disagree with this.
If you have good enough multiplayer in your game, it offers way more replayability than a good single player campaign.

People will keep coming back to play matches with their friends, and it keeps the game being talked about.

What I really want is a decent length campaign that utilizes the best of the Predators arsenal and the Aliens sense of survival. Oh and yes, colonial marines. Basically... go play AvP2 and gives us something along those lines.

AvP Gold bro. All those difficulty levels. Then extra levels you can unlock. Hell Black Ops 3 finally did a campaign that's fun to go through multiple times and there's an extra bonus campaign. But I am 100% sure that I played multiplayer much more than singleplayer. Online, and all of my friends would LAN it.

Back when Gamespy was around? I remember doing that. But here's the thing. The single player on AvP Gold and AvP2 were what sold the game. You can't capture the feel of the franchise in multiplayer only. And multiplayer only does get boring. Too many games now are focusing on just multiplayer. AvP is ripe for an awesome movie-esque slow burn kinda scary and stealthy story mode campaign. Nothing was cooler than the first marine level in AvP2 where tension built up as you got farther into the complex then all of a sudden the Xeno's break out. You don't get that with people running around in multiplayer. The ideal AvP game would have both a great single player and a balanced multiplayer.

AvP has such a capability for building up that tension and putting you in one of the movie scenes.

I would agree with your reply if it was to literally any other poster in the thread, but I specifically even started my post off by saying I dont imagine to contribute anything of use, especially since im making a game of my own and I know loosely hamstringed "ideas" wont take anyone too far

I didnt specify any complex mechanics, I said I want them to elevate the Alien of the first movie above the other drones and even gave a few suggestions off the top of my head how that would fit into a multiplayer only game

on-topic tho as far as contributing goes; I second the anon that put emphasis on the sound desing. Same thing about general atmosphere of the game. I've found that even with MP only games the atmosphere is one of the biggest factors about deciding will I keep playing the game or not.

AvP 2 had a class like this. It was pretty much a mini Queen that could take a ton of damage and deal out plenty. It just couldn't wall climb but for the most part the other aliens would just use it as a distraction and sneak around while everyone focused on it.

I really like what Red Orchestra 2 did with classes, where only a few people could be the really good ones and most were grunts. Having 3 or 4 Predaliens running around would be kinda lame, but a bunch of drones and one big motherfucker would be pretty cool.
