Kek, the only micro transactions that were on PC were for cosmetic items like hats that costed like a dollar each back before big multiplats started bringing out micro transactions that had an actual impact on the game. In fact, the more exploitable, money ready, credit card detail saving console audience is often more susceptible to micro transactions, so I'd say it's proliferated so rapidly because dumb fuck 13 year olds want their hurf a durf map pack.
