You literally got an RPG-like perk system ("runes") you can fin and activate for faster movement, weapon switch and so on. By default, you're literally as slow as Master Chief.

you can do a lot with "mere" skins, sounds and maps. Even more if you got a config file that controls HP, damage and other values of the game.
The D44M's map editor is literally a (more streamlined) version of TimeSplitter's map editor. I remember people commenting that the size of the maps is quite tiny too.
