I guess
I want a combo of the Vive/OR though. Want the FOV and camera from the Vive with the controllers of the OR.

Guess I'll end up buying neither as much as I want them.

What ever has the better software support will get the beans from me. I had a triple Nvidia 3D Vision gaming set up a few years back, but the lack of native support was a fucking nightmare. Had to force the resolution with shitty FoV, etc.

Seems like the Vive with the whole being the official Steam hardware might be the go for me.

>What ever has the better software support will get the beans from me
I was thinking the same thing but all games should eventually be able to support both so it wont really matter.

Vive has a worse screendoor effect do to higher FOV but it has the nice camera on the front I really REALLY wanted with a VR headset. I want to be an early adopted. I'm an enthusiast. I just can't decide which shit smells the least.
>>
>>323274482
Yeah the screendoor effect is fucking annoying too. That put me off getting the Rift DK1 and even the DK2. Literally made me queasy.

Hopefully both this issue will be fixed with both systems on release.

Cooling is pretty efficiency family. GPU/CPU will delta at 70/75C respectively. Breddy good since the GPU will go 1380/7500MHz and the CPU is at 4.5GHz both at 1.2v.

It's loud as fuck under full fan speed though.

Thanks. I havent looked into the 2011 sockets yet but they are expensive as fuck. Cheapest ones are 300 for mobo alone, i think thats a bit expensive for me.

s1151 are 100-150 bucks which i also thought is pretty expensive but at least you got new generation i7 and ddr4 with that

He's referring to the fact currently there are features of DX12 that maxwell does not support and is leaving out the fact Nvidia already stated this will all be resolved on a software level and has nothing to do with the physical hardware. 900 series is going to be fully capable of DX12. Doesn't mean it'll be as good as pascal obviously but there's not going to be an issue running it.

Score was at stock speeds, need to run a new benchmark some time and see muh gains.

>>323276517
I went from GTX 770 SLI -. R9 290X crossfire -> GTX 980 SLI

My brief time on team red convinced me of something. I'll never buy another AMD product again unless they get bought out by a company that isn't shit. $550 GPUs performing worse in every fucking instance at 5760x1080 and 4k than 770s which were like.. $370 I think when they were new? Not to mention DAT 95C IS NOMRAL FER DIS CARD M8! Had to slap blocks on them, another $200 before they finally started to slightly beat out the 770s.

Man... AMD is fine if you're running just 1080p or some simple single display setup, but for anything enthusiast level just stay the fuck away from them. Hope your purchase is serving you better than mine did.
>>

You don't need nothing more than i3 for play every game nowdays. i5 and i7 are just overpowered shit.

>>
>>323276920
I'm just a cheap ass pc player, I have only one filthy monitor at 1080p.

With my 280X Dual-X, wich is the worst of the custom 280X, I can play near everything at 60+ fps.

>150$

>>
>>323276946
if op is paying $300 for a 4590, he's making a mistake regardless of the K debate. and the 4690k is only a whopping $40 more ($200 vs $240) and has a higher stock speed.

>AMDcup
>not even once.

i agree even though i have an FX8320.

why do i have it? because the desktop was INCREDIBLY cheap and brand new.
>>
>>323277019
>>323277131
The bare minimum for AMD is the R9 290...
>>
>>323277071
Hey as long as it works for your setup that's all that matters. Curious to see how AMD will perform with VR given that mostly where I saw issues was things outside the typical 1080p/60~120hz. Hopefully it won't be a complete mess like EyeFinity.
>>
>>323277019
i would say yes, but it may not be entirely necessary. with an FX8320 and PCS+ R9 380, 3DMark puts me just under the "Oculus Ready" score.
>>

Is it still a good idea to get a 980? I'm not sure how much more powerful it really is compared to the 970.

Do it for the vram.

Should last you 4-6 years at 1080p 60fps.
>>
>>323278078
It's nearly 25% faster is gaming performance but the biggest thing over the GTX 970 is the full 4GB of full speed memory. It won't crap out with higher graphices settings at higher resolutions like in the Rift or Vive.

this is a big mistake, it's better to go at least 20% over the requirements gpu-wise, because VR is going to be intensive on the GPU
