Faggots were holding the 3DS wrong and they couldn't get used to the controls. Although it's Nintendo's fault for packing the stand with the game, it tricked people into holding the console wrong. Although the 3DS could have really done with an extra shoulder button to act as a dedicated dodge button. It could have also been used whilst controlling vehicles to jump/speed-boost/etc. (i.e. the button that was mapped to the touch screen).
I'd love to see a sequel on the 3DS's successor (assuming that has two shoulder buttons on each side like the N3DS) although I have a feeling that they weren't joking when they said we'd have to wait another 25 years.

Stylus controls are much faster than twin-sticks. So if it was made for consoles, the gameplay would have to be slowed down a lot. The Wii U gamepad is just too big to be used in the same way as the 3DS's touchscreen.
