I think Japanese games even achieve Game of the Decade status. From wiki:

Using the multiverse theory to tell is story is always bullshit. There's no point at which you can go back and fix everything. Everything already exists, you can only fix your own timeline. The story also can't seem to determine a main theme. At first it's racism, and then it scraps that it favor of fatherly feelings. It never really concludes the racism storyline.
Gameplay wise, the difficulty is poorly balanced. Normal and easy work, the higher difficulties are just ridiculous spikes in health and damage. Then you can only really carry around two weapons and most of the other weapons are just clones of other weapons, all the powers are very similar to each other in terms of what they're used for, and the leveling system doesn't work because you end up pumping most upgrades into the early weapons, and it's not worth using the later weapons because they're weaker than your early weapons.
It's a mess of a game.

Gunplay is awfujl. Straight up awful. Playing on easy or normal is OK because enemy health pools are too low for it to be noticed, but on hard and 1999, enemies end up having huge amounts of health and don't react to being shot at all. Combining this with a 2 weapon limit and a low ammo count makes the problem considerably worse than it is.
One of the worst boss fights in any video game ever. They had absolutely no idea what they were doing when they designed Lady Comstock. A ghost that continually revives enemies (that don't drop ammo) and has an absolutely huge amount of HP, who will also heal a substantial amount if you die. Basically, confusing "how can we make this hard for the player?" with "how can we dick the player over?".
Plot literally gets made up as it goes along. It's not so bad at the start, but once all the alternate reality business gets started, Elizabeth and Booker just do whatever the hell they want. Their answer to basically any adversity is "go to another reality lol", and the ending of the game makes absolutely no sense either. Killing Booker wouldn't change shit as he'd be alive in many other realities as well.
