Zero and Remake, while initially exclusives, were not part of Capcom 5. Only four of the Capcom 5 (RE4, Viewtiful Joe, PN03, Killer 7) were ever released. The fifth was cancelled, and then every other one except PN03 was later ported to the PS2.

Nintendo's hardware strategy has always been relatively obsolete and underpowered hardware that would be more robust against wear and damage. Its just back in the 80s and 90s that's what everybody was doing in the console market. Today they're up against shitty laptop hardware and nobody is too concerned with the much higher prices, or the much less fault tolerant hardware.

I'm in a modder's chat room fairly often and a lot of the assets are remarkably similar, but you're right in that a lot of us are sticking with Skyrim.
Not only because of the fantasy setting, but because this is the golden age of a Beth game- years after release is when modders are finally in full swing and the major projects near completion (like Skyblivion and Skywind, and that one German one I can't remember)
Many are also turned off by the "FPS" parts of Fallout.
On-topic: I think Nintendo is still going strong all things considered. You'll have to see what that new project is going to be before you count them out.
Either way, I really want their first party titles to live on. Even if their systems eventually die Nintendo the software developer is strong.
