Alright fags, I need your help. Which gfx card should I get for the my motherboard (GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2H DDR4)? It only has 1x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot and I don't know which one is currently the best for me.

Budget: 300 euros
>>
GTX 970

Fuck what anyone else says about the card.
>>
>>323214156
Can you overclock the CPU with that board?
>>
>>323214156
Gee, you tell me OP.
>>
>>323214156
What's your preferred gaming resolution, performance goal, and settings you're going to use? There's a big difference in system requirements for 1080p/60fps and 2k/120fps.

You also should consider whether you wanna be ready for the upcoming DX12 or not yet, eventhough there's no games that use it at the moment, and it's probably won't be a necessity for some years now.

For a quick fix for 1080p/60fps, playing at ~High settings in most games, a GTX 950 would be enough for now, and cost less than 200 bucks. The 960 4GB would do a lot better and last longer, and is below 280 bucks now.

For 1440p and above, you need at least GTX 970 or even 980/Ti.
>>
>>323214156

The cheapest 970 in Yurop is around 350. Save up, get that, if you like to take dick inside your ass with proprietary driver updates and GAMEWORKS FEATURES. That dick feels pretty good btw, the only problem is that it's a dick.

If you don't want the dick, then get a 390. It is "considered" worse by the "majority" (which means around 80% of nvidia users), but it is essentially the same card as the 970, only without the free games, more power consumption and too much RAM than you'll ever need (seriously, you'll be able to upgrade before you can start coming close to using those 8 gigs of RAM).

I'd suggest get a used vapor-x 290x, which goes for around 300eu. Then wait for Polaris AMD cards and get that. Or Pascal, if you like dick.
>>
>>323214156
390 or 970 3.5

1080p, 60fps, med-high settings: GTX 950.

Same, but High-Very High / UHD resolutions: GTX 770 4GB

Fuck the 970, save yourself some money and get the 950. Just as good.
>>
>300€
Your stronger options are saving up some more money and getting a 970 or a 390 (they're probably around 350€)

Your other option is like >>323214565 said, to get a cheaper card and wait for next gen of gpus. I wouldn't pay much more than 180€ for a 2GB 960 or 380, or about 150€ for a 950

Also what CPU do you have?
>>
>>323214268
I thought about this card, but the problem is that I haven't found a GTX 970 with only 1x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot. I'm afraid that a GTX 970 with 1 slot doesn't even exist.

>>323214565
I want to be able to play the newest games for a few years (4-5 years) on at least 30 fps medium settings.
>>
>>323214389
You can overclock a CPU with any standalone mobo.

>I wouldn't pay much more than 180€ for a 2GB 960 or 380, or about 150€ for a 950
Those prices are way too low, at least for my country. Just today checked upgrade options for my buddy, and cheapest GTX 950 is 166€, cheapest 960 4gb 244€.

Yo, I'm going to be upgrading my graphics card next month. Budget of ~130. Any suggestions that can help do recent stuff at 1080p 60fps medium?
>>
Guys don't forget that it has to fit my motherboard.

get z170 u turbocuck

>I want to be able to play the newest games for a few years (4-5 years) on at least 30 fps medium settings.
750ti 2GB can run Witcher 3 at medium, at 30-35fps average, and GTA5 on Very High at 35fps average, when coupled with i3 4000-series and 4GB RAM. That's pretty much the bare minimum to go with at this point. The GTX 950 offers around 30% performance boost compared to 750ti, and costs just tiny bit more now.

If you wanna be safe for the next 5 years, get at least 960, and preferably a 4GB VRAM model. I've managed perfectly fine with my GTX 560ti 1GB since 2011, so I'd assume a 4 gens newer counterpart with 4x more memory to do a lot better.

You could also consider some older and cheaper choices, like >>323215242 said. The 770 with 4GB VRAM is still quite a beast.

98% of GPUs only require a single slot -- it's why they have a single male jut. Cards might be listed as taking up the space of multiple slots though.

750ti and 950 are tiny as fuck, and use next to no power.

The 960 and 970 have smaller one and two fan versions too.
>>
>>323215736

Save up at least for a 960/380.

No reason to get a card right now. If it's necessary, there are plenty of used options.
>>
>>323215736
Grab GTX 750ti 2gb.
Cheapest I found was 125€.
>>
>>323215394
>I'm afraid that a GTX 970 with 1 slot doesn't even exist.

They're all single slot.....
>>
>>323215427
The difference is whether he'll be OC'ing via the multiplier or FSB, which entirely depends on if his CPU is unlocked or not
>>
>>323216479
Unless it's a low-profile card (not vidya), every Nvidia card takes up two slots

What? Mobo has at least 1 PCI-E slot, card goes in on that slot. You're gonna need 2 slots to fit two gpus. What may be a problem is card size compared to your case

>>323215628
Yeah I went too low, those sale prices and are about 15-20€ less than normal price here in Spain. I still think that those card are kinda overpriced because or not being much alternatives on that price bracket and are not really worth their normal price.
I managed to get a 380 for 150€ on black friday, it almost was cancelled because out of stock but I finally managed to a 380X instead
>>
>>323216692
But two case backplate slots, not PCI-E slots, he probably has it free unless he has a tiny case or all his PCI slots used
>>
>>323216692

Are you using those extra PCIe slots? Because if not, then why give a shit?

>>inb n00b (i know)

On the site called 'Tweakers' (pretty famous Dutch site) it's written that all GTX 970 takes 2 slots. What about that then?
>>
>>323217097
Two case backplate slots? So it will probably fit if there is no other card in the motherboard if you go for 1 card 'with 2 slots'?
>>
>>323217135
Two expansion slots, buddy

Its probably going to block that PCI right below the PCI-E, but nothing more as long as it fits the space on your case

Two of these backplates in the back
>>
Alright thank you very much guys! I have never assembled a PC, so that's why I didn't know about those case backplate slots.

Just to be 100% sure; can I use the EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 (http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/416136/evga-geforce-gtx-970-4gb-superclocked-acx-20/specificaties/) if I don't use another card?
>>
>>323218335
Yes
>>
>>323218335
Don't go EVGA. Try MSI or Gigabyte instead. Or even ASUS.
>>
isn't AMD showing off their new hotshit card soon?

I imagine if you can hold off on a grafix card then waiting a few weeks/months would be beneficial. Especially if AMD has mastered that stacked vram that is supposed to run much faster and draw less energy/make less heat. they'll be rushing to flush the housefire cards while nvidia is desperate to offload their meme cards
>>
>>323218508
Thanks!

>>323218612
Why not? Whats so bad about EVGA?

>>323218748
I've heard about that too. I am not going to buy it right now, but it's good to know what card will fit and what card will not in my motherboard. Unfortunately, I barely even have the time to game in the following months, so I have all the time I need to pick a good gfx card.

DX12 would be amazing if Windows 10's interface wasn't such shit even with classic shell. It only changes the start menu, everything else is the same trash.

What card are people currently holding out for now?

My 7870 is getting a bit long in the tooth.
