I'd rather play a game with a made up, cheesy cliché setting or no setting at all than getting told what "history" was like through the eyes of some uneducated, History Channel watching, left-wing retards.
Also implausibilities, especially behaviour. Makes my blood boil if a game tries to sell me an image of a king for instance who acts like a modern day Socialist or Egalitarian if he were some of those things implied by the story, he wouldn't be a king at all.
But I guess you have to cram your pacifist, feel good, left-leaning ideology in dark age/mediaeval/fantasy settings somehow. Can't have the public exposed to different ideological influences or world-views
