I just don't get it. How do I get good at this fucking game?

I keep losing the puck and I have no fucking capabilities to get it back. I haven't won a single match against Pro AI and it keeps outsmarting me all the time. It's defense is always one step ahead and blocks my passes like a motherfucker.

I am not mainly a console player and it feels fucking impossible to try to make shots with the pad joysticks. It feels like I get some cognitive failures when trying to make an attack.

I know some of you hockeybros enjoy good hockey and are good at this. Where to look, what kind of tactics should I employ? I can't score goals for shit and I keep losing. This game is the first one it feels like the more I play the shittier I become. It's extremely frustrating.

Send help.

Same feel with me and Madden

I can't play for shit. Gives me new respect for sports game players.
>>

>I can't play for shit. Gives me new respect for sports game players.

I know man. After trying to get even a slightly better at this I have more respect for those who excel in these on professional level than any other genre. Well, maybe fighting games a bit more. But still, it's fucking overwhelming when you don't even exactly know what you are doing wrong and therefore can't better it.

I had great setting for it too. My dad is a former hockey coach and tried to get me into it but goddamn I didn't like sports back then and rather spent my time infront of a PC. And here we are now.

Protect the puck do a one timer you now have the power to win every hockey game

The last year I played made me quit and hate hockey for the rest of my life. I don't remember the details but I just can't care enough about it anymore.
>>
>>323189152

I know the concept and I try to do it constantly. However it always stops when the AI doesn't get in place in time and I lose the puck to the defenders or they straight up block my passes. Other people seem to pull it off just fine so I don't know what goes wrong in my game.

Stick lift or hit. Games pretty easy don't be a dumbass.
>>

That's a shame man. One of the few sports that are actually worth watching in my opinion because of its high speed low drag

You had a shot to the NHL stardom anon. Eternal glory awaited you and infinite pussy

>>
>>323189943
>>323190079

I just can't pull it off. The AI protects the puck like a mother hen. My poke checks don't seem to have any effect and I end up tripping someone. Stick lifting seems to be very situational.

tl;dr I just can't pull it off and suck humongous cock
>>
>>323190485
Then hit them. The ai fucks you up sometime but basically hit them or stick lift. Poke check on occasion.

Also you can look on jewtube to find best ways to cheese goals.

I find the game a lot easier if you make sure the camera is always facing up the ice, so that your controls don't swap when the next period begins

let the ai help you out a bit more on defense, you don't need to be constantly switching to your defensemen because the AI knows enough to keep you afloat

use r1/right bumper with the right thumbstick to pokecheck, the 100% most important tool you have

the better you get at defense, the more you'll have to play on offense

the game encourages you to pass the puck, but you need to make good passes to your d-men while in the offensive zone

moving the puck around will help you open up shooting lanes for clear shots

>>323191785
because that doesn't make sense and never will

Former Madden Bowl champ here

The biggest obstacle in Madden is recognizing defenses and knowing how to stop money plays (Plays that work every time unless you specifically call a play against it)

Another big thing is knowing your personnel, it's sort of like playing cards. I play with the Jacksonville Jaguars and always have, so I know their strengths, their weaknesses, and knowing who does better where and whatnot

If you're a big football fan it's a little easier to get into. I wouldn't bother because Madden sucks cock now, and I only play it because it puts money in my pocket now

and yes I'm a nig fuck you
>>
>>323191785
Because some people just aren't athletic enough, or have an injury making them unable to play anymore. FIFA game's I purely don't understand, people shell out $60-70 a year for a game about kicking a ball around.

You do know hockey is way bigger in other countries than America..

Also, fighting can be used as tactics. Got a player on another team that keep throwing cheap hits and is generally annoying? Send out a person that will rough him up and get into a fight. This will put him in the penalty box.

RAGS
>>
>>323186107
Start with be a pro first, as a sniper, on casual.
You will control just one player which will help you to preform.

When you are better, put the difficulty on pro, and put down the enemy faceoff efficiency in the settings.

The main things in general -
Shooting
Wirst shot - just lift your right stick wherever you want to shoot. If you want to shoot for example to the upper right corner, just lift your right stick forward and right.

Faceoffs - This one is a little tricky. Your main duty is to watch the arm of the ref, when you see him swinging his arm press the right stick down.

Don't try to play it solo, pass to your teamnates. You will never score if you are too cocky. this is not soccer where messi dribbles his way to the net and scores, usually you will get a big body check if you do this.

Defense:
Beginners are playing it very wrong. If you are close to your opponet who has the puck you can try to bodycheck him (right stick), lift his stick (A on xboxone, I don't know what it is on ps4), or poke check (RB - also on xbox one)

If the opponet with the puck is far far away, stay in front of the net, cover the scoring chances and help to your goalide, DO NOT try to rush the opponet down, you will miss him and your opponet will have a breakaway.

English is not my first language, please write if something is not clear.

But I wasn't afraid to get hit. I guess I made up for it with speed.

>Also, fighting can be used as tactics. Got a player on another team that keep throwing cheap hits and is generally annoying? Send out a person that will rough him up and get into a fight. This will put him in the penalty box.

why can't the ref just put him in the penalty box for throwing cheap hits and being generally annoying?

I understand how it works, what I can't understand is how a such a retarded, pointless feature came to be attached to the game.

"So the game is, we skate around on ice and try to get this puck into the other team's net, that's how you win. Oh, but also you can fight someone if you take off your gloves and it's legal unless one of you falls on the ice."

Hockey is LITERALLY the sport equivalent of youtube prank videos.
