Hunt new monsters and use their parts to craft a fresh new weapon. Zinogre and Gore Magala are generally good candidates for this, Seltas and Rathalos not so much.

Did a bunch of low rank stuff to get shit for decorations for my Garuga set. Now that I have all of the earplugs, I need to get a good switchaxe so I can practice something other than Hammer.
What are good traits to focus on? I'm guessing status phials are trash, but I'm assuming that switch axes aren't just like hammers where the strategy is just "find something tall to jump off of and hit the monster's head so hard it blasts out of the other side of the world and into space".

Someone explain the positives/negatives of that blast element, specifically on Insect glaives. Is it good? what does it even do? makes explosions every few hits or something? I can't tell if that's underpowered as fuck or really good
I might just use the dalamadur blast one until I can start crafting the element ones later on.

Blast works likes other ailments, when you reach the threshold after inflicting enough blast you trigger an explosion that does fixed damage to a monster. This is especially useful if you can get it to trigger on a hard to break part.

Started new character yesterday on MH4U. Female this time and been focusing on long swords for the first time. What other weapon I should use too? My G rank char only used lance and heavy bowgun.
And yes, I could have used all weapons on my first char, but I enjoy making new character for new weapons.

Blast is really good for breaking parts with weapons that normally aren't super great at that. And generally does good damage too if you can stick to a monster and keep the explosions going. I love my Brachy lances.
Played it for many hours. But when all is said and done, unlike games like FF7 which I will always cherish, monster hunter is boring as fuck. All its about is kill the monster, upgrade armor, farm shit, rinse , repeat. Don't get me wrong I love it but what a pointless fucking game! Why did I even bother? Th OST is fucking terrible too.
