they technically are better than the originals if by nothing else the ability to save your progress in the longer games really helps as smb3 is a bit long to marathon if you don't want to use the warp whistle.
i still prefer the original smb3 as the jumping physics seem a bit off in all stars.
some of the visual updates look a bit odd in smb 1 and 2 but overall it's a straight upgrade.
