Dope ass midi. Aside from that its just a more desperate and a little darker than the music leading up to it. For me this music perfectly embodies that last leg of the castle. Shits getting real and real dangerous. They guy who is a threat to the world and peace is waiting right up stairs with all of your fallen brothers ready to try and take you down again.

This one, while really not the boss theme, is a thing of absolute perfection in the way it was used. At the end of Chrono Cross you take the fight for the fate of your world and timelines to the end of time. Its basically a giant abyss beyond time and space. Logically why would anything BUT the boss be there? So thats how it was, just you, the boss, and the sounds of battle and ambient noise. Then it happens. You pull off the Chrono Cross defeating the Time Devourer and freeing Schala. Then this music breaks that silence and carries you through the end monologue and credits. Just thinking about it gives me goose bumps.

Its catches a lot of hate for not being Chrono Trigger.
Besides that the story gets convoluted at a few points near the ladder half of the game. It has a couple problems but I wouldn't say its ''shit''.
