if you want / need to capture a monster, you have to wait for them to start limping, they'll be at like 20-15% health. it always takes two tranq bombs to put them to sleep, unless for some reason you have a negative skill, abnormal status down. then it takes 3. always bring a few extra tranqs in case you miss.
capture quests will look like a blue page when you accept it, but be sure to pay attention to quest texts before you take them.
also if your crouching, you will carve and gather items faster
