There was a console ban in China which was recently dropped so now Sony are now allowed to sell the PS4 in China but only after the CCP takes a cut of course. It also makes sense as Chinas middle class is booming right now as the country turns into consumer mode. Many Chinese are massive weebs and they like japanesu stuff because of the cultural overlap and similarities between them but Sony is largely seen by the Japanese as a foreign company in general for the companies success has mainly happened outside of Japan. There are many in Japan that also naturally prefer wiiU and Nintendo software, the fanbase for Nintendo on this board is the same across the world. Nintendo is like Apple and have cultivated brand attachment to a t through genius marketing the world over so Nintendo going mobile is basically a dream come true for the nips. They have no need to play playstation anymore.

The difference is that Nintendo has already made it clear that mobile gaming is a very real threat, and they'd rather get in on that bandwagon and not be left behind, than fight against change and probably lose like Sony seems to be geared up for.
NX will probably outsell the PS4 in Japan, if it launches well.
However, you're ignoring that the NX isn't Nintendo's first attempt at an 8th gen console. The WiiU is.
The WiiU is still in the lead against the PS4, as most Nintendo consoles in Japan always will be, however the WiiU had a full years head start. When you look at the sales for each console, the PS4 is gaining ground against the WiiU and will almost certainly surpass it (another likely reason for the launch of the NX).
Another big deciding factor in whether or not the NX will be beat the PS4 in Japan comes down to Dragon Quest.
DQXI is almost certain to be the biggest selling game on PS4 in Japan, and will likely be what makes or breaks the console (and the console market in Japan as a whole).
Ignoring the handheld DQXI for a moment (which undoubtedly sell more than the PS4 DQXI), there is a possibility that DQXI will also wind up on the NX. However, will it be too late to really make a difference? DQXI is releasing this year, and rumours aside, it doesn't seem likely that the NX will share that fate.
DQXI will either cement the PS4 as Japan's console of choice, or be the death knell of Japanese console gaming.
The NX has a very tough fight ahead of it.
