I don't know why but i've been absolutely obsessed with this game after playing it for the second time yesterday
First time I played because my internet was down and it was the only offline thing I had and I didn't really care much for it

Dunno about that, but there's ships which have their engines, cockpit or both stripped from them in Captain's Edition essentially removing their ability to dodge.

and if you think the possibility of missing means the game is broken you're showing how new you are to the game (I'm guessing less than 2 hours in your first run)
because conversely enemies can also miss their shots (unless beams etc.) and you can increase your own evade chance by upgrading and powering engines and bridge, training personnel and using cloak
trust me, keep playing, you'll git gud eventually

I played it for a while and I know about the mechanics the game has

if the hit chance had some cap around 10% or something then it would be alright
but most of the late games you come across 60% + miss chance on everything including you .. and thats just garbage gameplay-wise
the game has a nice concept and its made pretty well.. but with the ruined combat its only just another overhyped average game

The best part of FTL is naming your crew after some kind of theme, and having them survive.
