Undertale is a 6/10.
5/10 because there's areas (badlands) you just drudge through, boring as fuck, that the OST makes bearable. Seriously, the OST saves the game.
6/10 because both neutral (novkills ) and true pacifist routes had endings which made weep.
That said, game was a linear as shit corridor where everything you did was predetermined, with only one direction at all times : forward.
Puzzles were also easy as shit, making for a constant ego stroke (along side constant memes and e-culture references) which justifies the amount of tumblr teens who cling to the good feels this game brings them .
TL/DR: more often than not, Undertale is mediocre. Entire sections salvaged by a godlike OST alone, with peaks off entertainment in between (which were awesome BTW).

Like how in a normal RPG some people grind to make the game easier while grinding in undertale you're slaughtering it's inhabitants for really no good reason and the game lets you know that.

In the game you can see that while Rando himself is a very nice guy for being a almost all powerful warlord with karate magic and a personal army, its ranks are full of selfish assholes that are probably in for the free power that comes by associating with him and his army, like when he gifts you his rations for breaking your bike and his men try to kill you after he leaves. Rando probably didn't take part in the kidnapping and just sent some men to do it and Cheeks was killed by those pricks before he could learn anything about the situation. It's also implied there was a lot of infighting between them and other gangs who wanted buddy too.

The fight against your gang is so cool. Almost every party member is already pretty memorable despite how little screentime most get, and it's just awesome seeing them on Rando's island.
It's common knowledge that they all behave differently in battle (the ones most people know are Terry or Birdie crying) but some of the characters kinda go above that.

I'd previously saved him not only from Buzzo and then from the Pretty Boys in area 2, and he seemed genuinely grateful both times. I felt mega betrayed that a companion I'd had since day 1 and given up a limb for would be so incredibly underhanded...
But during the battle, he wasted just as many turns crying as Shocklord did. I like to think it was his way of trying to make things easier on Brad, knowing that they were going to clash either way.
A lot of RPGs, I have a really hard time imagining the characters doing much of anything offscreen. For how little development the party members of LISA get, they're written in such a way that I can honestly picture how they react to the world around them. Fighting your party members isn't really that uncommon a thing in RPGs, but it's very very rarely well done on either a story or gameplay level; the fact that LISA manages to make it really emotional (with the right party setup, but more than half of the quotes I've seen get to me) with only a few lines per member of the really large cast is plain impressive IMO.

He gets a super combo that hits like a truck, a poison attack, and an attack to lower enemy attack or agility permanently.

I would argue birdie is the best since he can heal your whole party, cover an enemy with oil which raises fire damage to them by I think 250% and can recover all his HP while being untargetable

I believe you're told to throw the solo championship and if you do not, people will abandon the arena, locking you out of the 4v4 and 2v2 fights, the former which you can repeat indefinitely for XP while the latter can be completed safely (for 2 pretty good belts and Shocklord party member).

The last two points are solid, but I don't recall any info that would support this theory. Come to think of it, outside of wearing those masks and carrying out Buzzo's orders, his gang members haven't done anything particularly reprehensible (outside of said orders, which I suppose includes distribution of Joy). They even seem quite polite when talking with Buddy.

I hate how Dusty's got some of the worst fucking luck out of the entire cast. This guy is the epitome of NOTHING WRONG, yet he ends up getting the shortest stick of them all. Everybody had been through hardcore shit, and they're all broken people. But Dusty? His only sin was associating with Brad, who he thought of as a father. Poor guy got his fucking face carved off and he still managed to keep just an inkling of optimism, even after the fucking apocalypse. He never turned into a miserable, angry son of a bitch like Buzzo or a washed up deadbeat like Brad.

They also all fit thematically because Brad lost his daughter, Terry is Brad's ride or die,Birdie's sons are dead and Mad Dog killed his son right before meeting Brad. The guy who's skull you pull the mace out of is Mad Dog's kid.
