Its expensive because you need to keep your gear upgraded, you need to take valuable time spent finding/working at a job and use it for streaming, and you need to pay lots of little fees and etc.
Unless you get a lot of subs and etc, you will not see a lot of money back from a HUGE investment. It is more like something to do on the side while you slowly build of a sub base and then potentially switch to full time stream/youtube, but even that is harder to do because of the way Youtube and twitch have slowly begun to nazi up the situation.
