Eh, Google Glass is getting another go-round, and I doubt the final version they actually expect consumers to flock out and buy is going to be $1000.
$600 is fucking steep for screen goggles. For frequent early adopters and enthusiasts with cash to burn it may not be a lot, but it isn't like this thing has just a huge lineup yet. I'd imagine this being something more in the $300 range.
It's also a huge gimmick until something about VR is so impressive that it can become a standard. I don't want to strap this fucking thing on my face every time I play vidya.
I really just don't see it becoming big until it's smaller, lighter, and cheaper. Even if it only weighs a pound, that's a bit much to sit on your face for an extended period.
PLUS it's going to support Facebook and give them a foothold in "gaming" should it take off, and for all this board's PC community's talk of not wanting to support evil corporations like Sony and Microsoft (Valve is totally okay though XD), that's kind of out of character.
