It's mediocre, too easy and too short, though arguably DMC games aren't that long. Story is plain shit, music is only ok if you like wubs. Gameplay is too broken, color coordination is shit, infinite air chain pulls means you can never get hit and can just pull a lot of enemies to fall their death. Lots of press forward to run simulator segments that break up the combat or chain pull events that are borderline QTE, more emphasis on platforming than combat.
Whatever DE fixed, it was already too late.

Agreed. I played DMC3 for the first time this past year and thought that it was kind of dumb nu-metal tripe, but it fit the general atmosphere of the game, and the latter is fine. It works in context even if on its own it's a bit dopey.

No, because it wasn't. I played that shit, at its very peak it was mediocre as fuck. Not even by DMC standards, it was just boring and uninspired in general. It was too easy, way too slow, and honestly lacked any sort of compelling reason to stick with it. The only reason to stick with it is if you're a huge fan of ridiculously edgy anti-establishment stories, or you really REALLY like bad platforming mechanics more than fighting.
