Holy shit. I feel like all the games I'm used to seeing, playing, hearing about are old and gone.
They're becoming nostalgia fag material.
The Water Temple isn't hard, it's just poorly designed and tedious, so the kids who played it when they were eight and nine years old just thought it was hard.
It's not a hard dungeon but it's still a poorly designed mess.

There's a key under the room you use to get to the second floor. You can walk on the spikes with the metal boots. Keep checking for rooms you haven't been to yet.

The worst part about OoT's Water Temple is that it set the standard in future Zelda games for all water-themed dungeons to be poorly designed, convoluted messes.

Frustrating, but not impossible. Also, dark link is an asshole.
i never owned ocarina of time but i was considered good at video games back in 3rd grade so people kept lending me their copies for me to beat the water temple for them. i think i did that four times before ever playing oot from start to finish.
never understood why people disliked it.
