The problem is there niggers that still hold the game as some high ground for how a shooter should play because muh soda can. The same people that would give their improbably first born for hl3. The stealth system is horrific at times. The enemy AI all instantly knowing where you are and firing with aimbot accuracy when you're discovered is problematic. Certain enemies are complete bullet sponges, and the game offers basically no good way to conserve ammo for these encounters due to the awful stealth mechanics.
Is that good enough?

People always complain about the stealth, and though it's not a stealth game I never found much issue with it. In fact I cleared out the whole bridge without getting detected using knives and the hellsing and it was pretty east.
The only enemy I can think of that can really be considered a bullet sponge are the librarians and they have a clear mechanic to avoid confrontation with them.
There are heavily armored enemies sure and of course they'll be tankier than the rest but they're still not bullet sponge level, not if you use the right ammo and know where to aim.

I think it's trying to say in Halo there's a big open space, but you don't have to go to it and it's empty, so you just go to the end by the quickest route. Whereas Half Life makes you go to all parts of the map to get things which will allow to progress or complete all objectives.

Technically it is a flaw, and like I said literally everything is flawed. But holding that against the game would be like holding shitty stealth mechanics over San Andreas.
