For must-plays I'd say just look at the classic stuff like ( obviously ) final fantasy, chrono trigger, kingdom hearts and the like.

I'd add Shadow Hearts: Covenant, only because because I just finished replaying it a few days ago and I've always liked that even though it doesn't get talked about much. The battle systems fairly unique and it's got an odd sense of humor. Overall a really hidden gem.
