>>

that's a good question, I wonder what do they eat in F4
>>
>>322881096
Save it from what?
>>
>>322881096
Not so sure about that. MMORPGs were kinda a vehicle for the whole social gaming experience, so that aspect was what gave it's appeal. It originally made a lot of sacrifices to accomplish that, gameplay and graphically-wise but even with the ability nowadays to get that kind of fidelity they've been stuck at that point.

What's worse many are trading that social experience for convenience (and thus accessibility to a larger crowd so they think), which is why the genre had the appeal it did.

Think about what MMOs brought to the table years ago, and think about how many of those mechanics can be found in several other games now that online is as prolific as it is in gaming. MMOs may not be dying but they definitely are in a mid-life crisis.

That's just my perspective so who knows.

Don't make it easy to lvl up but not hard enough to grind days just to advance from lvl 15 to 16

leveling in most mmos is easy as fuck and when you get to end game you realize you have only dailies to grind and it's not really fun at all
>>
>>322882617
MMOs are built around a grind, without a grind people would quit.

It's like MOBAs, if there were no MMR ladder or some sort of grind system (buying champions with IP in LoL or getting hats in Dota) then they would be dead too.
>>
>>322882698
This except casuals will never stop, and so you'll never fix it. It's gone.

Not the poster you're replying to.
And I understand you guys are probably older than 18, but there was a time before you played MMOs as teens when they weren't all like that.
>>
>>322881096
wait for it to go retro
encourage private servers
>>
>>322883025
Give some examples then, because literally every single mmorpg in exsitence boils down to grind

The earliest I can think back to is Everquest and that was so much of a grind that it had a game made to take the piss out of how much of a grind it is.

Please, enlighten us.
>>
He thinks all gamergators are mysoginists so i-m cool with him
>>
>>322883173
Inb4 someone lists UO as a non-grindy game whereas it's complete bullshit.

>>322883140
Maybe if it wasn't boring then I would, got to lvl cap and there was not really much to do at all.
>>
>>322882797
>Don't make it easy to lvl up but not hard enough to grind days just to advance from lvl 15 to 16

This will never happen because you're basically asking a developer to choose between mainstream mega bux and niche dosh, and you know what their or their investors will go with. I can't stop laughing when says MMORPGs these days are grindy. Nigga, you have no idea what grind really is.
>>
go back to the basics, dont try and juggle too many balls by implementing optional gimmicks.
make it about questing with friends.

I know it will never happen, but look at MapleStory - people used to play the shit out of it when it was one of the most grindy games on the market back in the days around 2006-8.

The problem in Fo4 isn't what they eat, it's how do they with the infinite resources you get making an outpost not already have a thriving civilization that has solved most of the commonwealths problems already? Clean water is in over abundance, poor Liam Neeson wasted his life.

to bad making a good MMO means you will not get any profit from the casual audience.
>>
>>322883204
His point was that Gamergate might have some valid points but that if it did they were buried under so much hot air he couldn't see what they were, which is pretty much spot on.

Just like the Occupy Movement, anarchism, feminism and all kinds of other movements, Gamergate had some sensible arguments that went unheard because some morons couldn't stop spewing stupid shit.

How does one save something that by concept alone is meh?

I mean, its a MMO RPG. It will always operate as all MMO RPG's have, it is inherently flawed by design, the fuck do you want to save without altering the entirety of its core and making it nonviable for MMO status?
>>
>>322887149
Or SWGEMU, or tree of savior, or mini-fighters with more pve content, or tibia, or h&h pre-jewmode, etc.
>>
>>322881096
Remove any WoW-likes
We need more AMMORPGs
>>
>>322886206

I don't know what the fuck people expect, these groups are not centralized organizations, they cannot stop anyone from speaking in the name of them. Shit, they are not even really groups. This has been true of all "people's" movements throughout history, it's not a modern thing at all. It's still not even remotely difficult to discern the major grievances amongst all the bullshit.

And at least, unlike shit like the occupy movement, gamergate more or less had a list of things they actually wanted done rather than just a series of general grievances that they expected someone else to figure out the solution to.

If you are just going to dismiss an entire group because one of them once said something stupid then you are advocating dismissing virtually all formal political parties too.
>>
You have to get rid of a lot of QoL changes.
>remove auction houses in favor of direct trading
>remove global chats
>remove dungeon finders
>remove flying mounts
>remove all easy ways to level cap
>remove any themepark leveling path
shit like that
>>
>>322887557
>I have never played an mmorpg before
Then don't fucking post, nigger.
>>
>>322887590
But tree of savior was bad, there's literally nothing to do except grindfest your way to level +250?
Also the closed beta was full of bugs
>>
>>322887692
>closed beta full of bugs
do you realize how dumb it is complaining about that?
>>
Bring back community-driven MMOs.

A proper sandbox doesn't have to be an EvE-like autism simulator.

No instances, open world dungeons, tons of world bosses, a nice PvP/PK system and clan warfare.

People will be forced to fight over dungeons and bosses and that will create rivalries and the whole community politics.
>>
>>322887656
The occupy movement was largely (as in the most poignant point) about getting money out of politics in the USA but it was co-opted by progressivetards.
>>
>>322887692
Didn't mean tree of savior, meant RO.
>>
>>322887776
Of course i know that sounds dumb but you simply backpedal SO HARD after the first closed beta.
That game has no future, it's just Z "Melee" spam: the game.
>>
>>322886990
>difficult to implement
I wouldn't doubt it, mail is a clusterfuck in FFXIV and they got more important shit to work on with their skeleton dev team than some mail feature.
>>
>>322887817
Fuck, I actually meant trickers, but RO works too I guess.

unless youre a poor child (oh, look where we are!) in that case you can stick to shitty f2p mmo #39990
>>
>>322887927

C U C K
>>
>>322888043
But there's isn't an actual RO2, bruh.
ToS is way too shittier.
>>
>>322887972
The problem with EvE is that while it does the whole cimmunity-driven gameplay really well, it does everything else horribly.
>>
>>322887972
>eve online

I actually like to PLAY video games anon, not sit there and let the game level a skill for over a month while i play something else only to log in and do nothing with it anyway.
>>
>>322888112
there is an RO2, it's a shitty WoW clone
>>
NO Dungeon finders

Easy as that, you have to post in general chat to get a group going, incentivizing joining a guild so you have a group of regulars to run with.
>>
>>322888395
>Actual RO2
Yup. There's none.
>>
>>322887813

Not really.

I remember one politician, can't remember who, asking one of the organizers why they don't have anything at any of the occupy locations telling people how they can register to vote, how they can influence politics in the country, how they can use the existing system to enact the changes they want, etc., etc. and the reply he got was "Because it's not about politics."

They just wanted to whinge and let someone else figure out what to actually do. That sort of activism is doomed.
>>
>>322888404
I remember earlier in WoW there was an LFG system that just listed your name and class but you still had to talk to people like "Hey wanna go to this dungeon?" or "Hey what spec are you?"

and it worked really well because people still talked but you weren't fumbling around in the dark
>>
Turn them into proper 20-80 hour games that just happen to have hundreds of people involved in the same world.
>>
>>322888715
As I said, it was co-opted by progressivetards.
>>
>>322888020
>Lineage 2

suddenly remember crazy MMORPG

>MU Online

it was horrible
>>
>>322888894
It sucked at times too because sometimes you just couldn't get that last member. Then it went global and became one giant severwide shitposting chatroom.

Dungeonfinder could be good. It just needs prerequisites and checks. Like you need to have discovered the dungeon with your character and things like that.
>>
>>322881096
This guys right about almost everything. He's not scathing enough on Bethesda imo
>>
>>322889421
I'd be fine with dungeonfinder if it didn't instantly teleport you to the place. The world becomes entirely irrelevant at that point.
>>
>>322888112
Not sure if retarded or just pretending.
>>
>>322882832
Because Original DotaAllstars was really dead for 6 years, right? No one played that on Battle.net because there was no grind!
>>
>>322889873
Dungeonfinder is dogshit. Without it, people who want to do a dungeon wait in front of the dungeon so you know how many people are interested in doing it, you can find that one last member to round off your group of friend, you can get guildies to fill the missing party spots, etc. instead of staying walled into your community and never seeing anyone else ingame.
Beside, open-world dungeons are where it's at. People get in and do the dungeon with their own group, or tag along behind any other party, or make impromptu groups. Then they wait for the next bossspawn and kill the mofo before heading back (auto-teleport, for example). Clean, easy, low requirements, interactive, fun.
