Yakuza 6 comes out this fall, so it's not that far off. The PS4 version comes with a demo for 6 even. Kiwami is just something the devs slapped together in their spare time because they're nuts and they like making multiple games at the same time despite barely having enough time to make 1 game every year like they do (for example, making Binary Domain 'for fun' during Yakuza 5's development)
Both Kiwami and 6 will be out by the time we get Zero, fuck they'll probably announce the next game in the series before we get Zero too.

For me I want RC remake, everytime I look at the new trailer I want to play it more, visually its fantastic and everything I wanted since I played it for the first time on the PS2. I always imagined what that world would like super graphics and it became a reality 7ish years later.

The combat is real time, and is seen from top down, pic related. I've seen a lot of people compare it to Diablo, but I haven't played Diablo to make that comparison myself. Considering the random weapon loot and top down ARPG combat the similarities are there though.
There's a demo on the JP store, well worth playing. It includes full english text and audio too.
The combat opens up as you get more options during the game in the form of tochkas, magic attacks with different effects like a decoy or a projectile or an AoE buff.
The controls might feel a bit clunky initially but I got used to them.
The cast and story are very NIS-style in terms of humour, but it goes a step or two darker than Disgaea does. I fucking loved the cast personally, but a lot of people weren't into the fact some of the characters, Metallia especially, were legitimately selfish assholes. But it's kind of the point, Metallia is meant to be a selfish but not completely irredeemable villain that you want to work for.

tl;dr it's clunky in places and your mileage may vary with the characters but I enjoyed it a metric fuckton personally.
