What kind of Kool-Aid do I need to drink to enjoy this game? Everything is so stiff and repetitive. The people in /cgg/ tell me its great and has a lot of depth, but I can't see how. Its timing based sure, but there isn't a whole lot you can do in it. You mostly spend battles doing the same thing over and over, and its so damn repetitive that its easy to get bored even in the first fight since it just keeps throwing boring foot soldiers at you.
I don't see how people in /cgg/ can praise it while shitting on games like DmC and Kingdom Hearts for their gameplay when they're miles better games.

Friendly reminder that the "spectacle action" scenes in this movie are a masterclass on how to make your shit look like two unrelated movies (one traditional, one animated) that happen to be sharing the same screen space
Like seriously just kill one major character the first time you do one of these scenes, and then the rest of them will have tension for the duration of the movie. Otherwise everybody gets the memo immediately that nothing is at stake

Maybe this won't go over well...but I believe that RE5 REALLY, REALLY DID need co-op. It had almost nothing else going for it, beyond its production budget. It was the first one without Shinji Mikami (the series creator), and pretty much everything good about it is either sloppily recycled from 4 or purely a product of "co-op is pretty much always fun."
I completely agree with your sentiment, but I think the real problem was that they lost their guiding creative talent. If you think their choices about how to implement co-op were shoddy and misguided, imagine if the same quality of design insight had been put into a single-player campaign instead.
