You are either confused or full of shit. There were no rocket barrel stages in DKC. The first one was in DKC3. Like that anon said go play Red Hot Ride in DKC2. It's infinitely better than any of those rocket stages from DKCR.
Anybody here play DK King of Swing? I thought it was a pretty good game, both in single player and the bot matches. Shame my GBA triggers more or less broke though.

i had the same story but after i beat the bats i just lost interest. fuck those levels, they have nothing to do with the actual gameplay in DKCR. its all down to memory and trial & error. if the barrel was controlled by a stick it would be alot more fun.

I got this game for Christmas. Took nearly 2 cumulative hours worth of tries last week to beat that nightmare. That was the hardest temple level, no contest.
But it's still not as bad as the Five Monkey Trials from Returns.

If you want a real challenge try to beat the secret world of DKC2. The last level in the secret world Animal Antics is the single hardest level in any DKC game. It makes those temple stages from DKCR feel like Yoshi Story in terms of difficulty.
