/v/, help me find that perfect game.
I'm looking for a comfy turn-based tactics game for PC. Something that makes me think, but doesn't rush me to think quickly. Good AI is a must, and semi-active multiplayer would be nice too.
I'm thinking of something in the vein of Advance Wars, but perhaps with better AI and some sort of multiplayer.
XCOM is great, but I wouldn't exactly call it comfy. I'm open to hex-grid-style wargames, though.
Fallen Enchantress
Multiplayer's dead, AI isn't fantastic, but it sure is cozy
The problem I have with most TRPGs is that they're not really as tactical as Advance Wars, because the RPG elements make it more about grinding and party composition than strategy.
So did /v/ Advance Wars netplay die? haven't seen threads for it in a while.

This is my issue, too.
Even with HoMM3, which is one of my favorite games of all time, despite this.

I've never played a HoMM game, why is 3 your favorite? Should I play the whole series?

No MP, though.

3 and 2 are the only two I've played. 2 is good too, but 3 felt more polished, and had more variety in terms of monsters/heroes/spells/tiles/etc.

The story's nothing special, most only play one or two of the HoMM games and don't miss much. Just go with 3, it's definitely the best one.
If you really do want continuity then, well, good luck. I've lost count of how many Might & Magic games there are.
