Are there any games where status effects (like poison and sleep) are actually worth using in combat instead of just being an occasional nuisance?

Dragon's Dogma.
Never underestimate the power of the rusted dagger and bow.
>Mfw "burn" status effect is exactly the same as "poison"
Has there ever been a game that did burn status interestingly?
>playing tits SC
>regular enemies are weak enough that it's rarely worth it to inflict status
>bosses are all immune to status
XIII, actually.

Pokemon's burn neuters attack.
>>322790937
I don't know if you'll find this "interestingly", but in Kingdoms of Amalur enemies on fire run around panicing and screaming.
>>322789494
Shockef in Chrono Trigger.
>>322789494
Any SMT or Atlus rpg in general.
>>322791489
>Atlus rpg in general.
Except the Persona games, where bosses are always immune.
The Stick Of Truth, only because status effects stack.
You become a god by 2/3s of the story depending on what class you picked.
>>322791619
Not always. Some of them becomes easy as fuck with a good status effect.
>>322791489
You're an idiot.
>>322789494
Dark Souls.

>You're an idiot.
Explain how I'm an idiot.
>>322794814
He can't. Soul shitters are just retarded.
KO'ed/ dead status.
>>322789494
Who is this burger boner?
>>322791489
I don't think that status ailments are too useful anymore, in Atlus games. Buffs and debuffs yes, but we have come far from being able to just spam charm bullets at the final boss of SMT game.
>>322794814
No.
>bosses are mostly immune to status, exception notably being Horkos via Taking a bite
>>322789494
>sleep
in anything D&D based, sleep, stun, held, slow, webbed, dazed, petrified, and many others are pretty much game breakers.
For more modern, any sort of hard crowd control ability is godly in divinity original sin (hard CC means the enemy doesn't get to take his turn, so stunned, knocked down, frozen, and so on)
>>322789494
Etrian Odyssey pretty much requires you to use status ailments/bindings unless you want to get fucked in the ass.
>>322789494
Bind is good for robbing the everloving fuck out of demons in SMTIV
mio is shit and worst girl
Skyrim

Pokemon?
Seriously, Prankster is obscenely broken.

litterally the worst bullshit invented.
>>322790937
In dark messiah they die while screaming after being set alight.just like real life!
>>322796747
Take that back!
>>322797631
i meant mio from idolmaster sorry i like nichijou mio
>>322796747
>mio is shit and worst girl
>>322797749
Oh, sorry then.
I know they we're absolutely vital in Wizardry 8. I'd assume it may be the case in other similar games.
Enemies come at you in huge numbers and can quickly kick your ass if you don't contain them with sleep/confusion/slow etc. Bosses weren't immune either, though it was tough to make shit stick.
I've had Ninjas instakill bosses a few times.
Darkest Dungeon.
>>322796197
Very much this.
>>322789494
poison is really just an addition to your mad DPS criticals.
>>322789494
LISA: The Painful RPG
>>322789494
Etrian Odyssey has bosses that are affected heavily by status effects.
>>322797631
But that's Nitori from touhou, only the artwork looks like Nichijou.
You don't even know your own waifu, you don't deserve her.
>>322791619
Persona Q but maybes its an Etrian Odyssey thing. The final boss in Q gets fucked by a status effect making him the easiest fucking boss ever
>>322803648
Nitori is shit too, so.
>>322803648
It's an obvious crossover image and reference to both characters anon, don't be so harsh.
Now that you also have that in your head that those two look similar you should also know that Akyuu is Akari Akaza.
>>322803648
I though that was Mio, it was tagged to be her, just that the hat was from touhou.I was just saving pictures of her without much thought and it was an appropiate reaction image, please don't judge me too harshly
>>322804314
>Akyuu
WOW BRAIN GET IT TOGETHER FUCK
>>322804359
Mio has those cube things, Nitori has beads.
>>322789494
Digital Devil Saga
>>322804564
Lesson learned.
>>322791619
Persona 4 was totally into status effects. Debuffing was really useful
I remember the first Etrian Odyssey posions could fuck up most bosses in like 2 turns.
