Those are my favorite games on WiiU. My advice? Wait to see if NX is backwards compatible with WiiU. If it is and it's got a decent launch lineup, jump on those games then. If not, hope WiiU drops heavily in price or an emulator happens I guess.

I got a question about the Wii U. My brother bought one for his 10 year old this christmas. Included in the pack was splatoon. They didn't set up an online account because he's played online games on PC/Xbox/Playstation. Now the kid wants one to play splatoon. Says he can only do training offline.

Splatoon is basically a paperweight without online but it has no voice chat so you're relatively safe. Worst you'll find is faintly suggestive Miiverse posts that make it past Nintendo's filter.

Not to mention NX is right around the corner so investing in a soon to be dead, and hopefully cheaper, console isn't smart.
I've owned one since August 2013 and it really wasn't entirely worth it. Even Smash sucks because there's nothing to do sinle player wise besides event matches and collect trophies with memes in the descriptions.

Last time I went to a midnight release was A Link Between Worlds, which was nothing like you'd expect because it also launched the same day as Xbone. I guess the most notable one I ever went to was Brawl's, which I recall being fun but I was 16 at the time or some shit.

First party Nintendo titles are literally the only reason to own a Wii U so they are never going to drop the price on their games. You either buy them or let your console become a 300 dollar paper weight.

I have one, but it has a ton of flaws. For example: Not being able to launch a game without patching. That's retarded, since the console comes with 8GB or 32GB. What this means is, you can't bring your console somewhere else without an external drive and expect to be able to play your games. And even then, if there's no internet connection there you also can't expect to play your games.
The library is also weak. Bayonetta 2 and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze are great, and Mario Kart and Smash are good entries too, but other than that there's just not enough to play.The console also arrived dead on arrival at first (can't connect the gamepad or controllers) but I swear I'm not letting that cloud my judgement.
