Can anyone here think of an example of "culturalization" done right?

Teddie instead of Kuma. Puns instead of Kuma spam.

>That synopsis
God forbid someone actually has to learn something or venture outside their comfort zone.

What that person refers to as "culturalization" is just marxist censorship. There is no "right" way to do that.

No it's unacceptable.

You wouldn't paint a burka on the mona lisa because it was going into a Dubai art gallery. It's ridiculous.

Both of these don't actually change the meaning, though, they're more like translations.

Isn't it just like changing references to ones which different countries would get?

If there was a joke about German people taking sunbeds, not everywhere on earth would understand this because it isn't a thing where they live, so they could change it to one more appropriate.

TWEWY's music changes maybe? I mean the music they added in is better than the music they removed when the game was brought outside of Japan.

>cultural mistakes
That's extremely presumptuous and downright rude to imply such, and culturalization in general is a terrible thing that should be pushed away. Also >>322785190

No. It's saying "this doesn't fit with our culture, we can't have that in the game". Like changing harvesting children in slavery to gathering children for playtime.

It's quite clear how the first one would pose a problem. But really, changing it would drastically modify the way the game feels.

>culturalization ensures gamers will not be disengaged by a piece of content that is considered incongruent or offensive
It's more about changing things because someone else's culture is offensive to you, or clashes with your own beliefs.

Still the best short-form for this horseshit.

Thanks to shit like this, that AA game that takes place a hundred or so years ago is never getting localized.
>>
>>322785190
But where does one even begin to look? For example the MC in the new fire Emblem is a half human and half dragon who has a human form and dragon form.

The human form walks around barefoot, and I have no idea if that's some sort of cultural thing in Japan or random design choice.

Things that are relevant to one culture but not another, because certain things would constantly be going over the heads of the new audience. For example, humor based on puns don't translate well if there aren't words that convey it in the new language, or a reference to a musician that region B would have never heard of would be changed to someone relevant to them.

Maybe if a developer wants to publish a game to somewhere that has a law that would ban it, they would remove blood in a shooter for that region.

Those are the only things I can think of that are really suitable changes.
>>
>>322789558
They could just explain who the musician is and why they're being referenced, or explain the humor to the player instead of changing it. I mean, that's what some fansubs do anyways.

>HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>Oh Yuski!
>HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>Translator's note: In the Japanese language this would have been a pun meaning "We will be moving quickly in a short time" due to getting the jet boat, which has a name which is also a pun on "speed", also Ori is afraid of speed so moving quickly would make them wet themselves, so in the original japanese terms "go" would have made this even funnier. You should be laughing now that we explained how funny it would have been if you understood the original puns in the language instead of playing a directly translated version

The horseshoe theory is real. If a right winger said this you know people would call him racist.

>>322785027
This is basically it. The original meaning of "I'm an annoying bear lol" is kept completely in tact.
