There really aren't two worlds, but there are two majorly different settings that I both respect equally.
One, the trainer setting. It is about humans, and pokemon are their "pets". The world is built around humans. This is the settng in the mainline games, and most other games. The humans and pokemon are separate, there are limited ways to interact with pokemon. You can't hold conversations.
The other setting, or focus, is the one that focuses on the pokemon. Humans are usually irrelevant. All the pokemon speak together, in the same "pokemon language". Focuses on wild pokemon and their societies. This focus is popular in fanfiction and for roleplaying, but for games, the setting or focus is rare, and the only games I have really experienced it is Mystery Dungeon.
These two focuses are relatively compatible, there are also a few other canons that are different from everything else like the TCG, but that's not what I'm talking about.

At this point I don't care, these creatures make no sense and some of them can even read minds. Their vocabulary is the least of my concerns about them.
I'm just a little miffed upon learning that the older designs were influenced by weird shit they saw from our world like Kabuto being based off the Trilobite and stuff like that. Not all the recent ones are uninspired but the majority seems to just be a blend of animal, element and some random quirk. I don't think the designs have to be "mature" or edgy or anything like that, I just feel they lost a sense of eerie mystique.
It's particularly weird because I see the 3 birds who are technically quite simple in their design and concept, yet the enigma behind thunderbird and phoenix has its allure. In comparison we get to the Behemoth, Leviathan and Ziz analogs and I just couldn't bring myself to care. Maybe it's just a bias of first time exposure.

TPC sets everything up in a simple single document, which it sends out to everyone that plans to make pokemon-related material. The one exception, of course, is GF. Every gen TPC takes whatever GF threw together and uses it to update the production bible.
You can even track the exact points the bibles changed the anime. The bibles explicitly state that the pokemon world doesn't have normal animals, and those quit showing up early on in the anime.

From an anime perspective it makes perfect sense to use names since you need to give your VA's some material outside of [Inquisitive Grunt]yes I'm aware there are VA who do animal noises and characters like Ein from Cowboy Bebop and Pen Pen from NGE though that last one is questionable at best, though this is about a series filled with emoting animal characters and ones that require and display sapient to human degrees of expression. That naturally making its way over to the games as voice work becomes more common with evolving sound tech and a growing cast of Pokémon personalities adds up for me.
I get how it can seem a forced appropriation of secondary media for some, I read comics I know that cinematic universe feel, but that's just creative work for you. The longer it goes the more likely it's going to have to evolve to the current standard of expectation.
