Without DSFix the PC version of Dark Souls is identical to the console version but without the blighttown fps problems. What PC gamers find unplayable is what console gamers are forced to deal with.
And even then it still takes less than 3 minutes to download and install the mod, that's nothing compared to how much time you save on not looking at loading screens compared to the console versions where loading times are 2-3 times longer than on PC.

Dark Souls 1 is a terrible PC port because it's literally the exact same as the console version (but due to better hardware the blighttown fps issues are fixed regardless). The PC port is terrible yet it's still a better version than the console versions even without DSfix which fixes the port completely.
Dark Souls 2 is a good PC port with the only issues being the durability loss (fixed already) and delay on mouse inputs in SOTFS (which doesn't matter when the games are designed for and best played with a controller).

I am seeing way more Onimusha and Genji then I am Souls. I don't just mean the Japanese aesthetic either. The combat seems to be more based on quick, flashy and decisive blows as opposed to finding timing windows. It's more about Issen hits then just finding the right time to engage. There is also the dodging mechanic which does look Souls like, sure, but lots of games have roll-dodges for I-frames. It doesn't make sense this guy rolling with all that armour on though.

Also, that doesn't even look remotely like souls anything. Just cause it has lock on, doesn't make it a souls game. To me, it looks more like Onimusha and maybe a bit of Way of the Samurai. (With the way parries seem to work.)
