So I'm planning to buy a controller finally for my PC, and i was looking at the Xbone controller, but as i understand i cant use the wireless controller, only with a cable on the PC ?
is this right ? thanks for the answers guys
>>
>>322600593
Only a micro usb cable works unless u get the wireless adapter, but it only works for Windows 10
>>
Yeah.

Microsoft uses some proprietary wireless signal instead of Bluetooth, so you have to shill out $15 for the official microsoft dongle when it finally comes out.

That being said, Wired 360 controller is your best bet.

It's cheap, and reliable.

Also you could go for a DS3 controller if you're into Psx/PS2 emulation.

That also works well, and it's what I've used for like 5-6 years
>>
>>322600593
Xbone controller is a great controller, possibly the best right now.
360 controller is pretty good but the shit dpad makes emulation frustrating.
My personal favorite is the nintendo wii u pro controller. Amazing dpad, 80 HOUR on use battery life, and i really like the layout with upper sticks and lower dpad/buttons. Its only downside are the digital triggers which makes emulating the gamecube a pain.
>>
>>322600593
just for comparison
xbone:
>dpad is still less accurate than ds4, dpad is hard press (makes a click sound)
>thumbsticks are smaller and the missing middle rubber bump makes it easier to grip
>bumpers are hard press
>triggers are much more durable than ds4
ps4:
>much more accurate dpad, soft press
>bumpers are soft press
>thumbsticks are shorter
>triggers have less travel (ds3 has weird convexed triggers)
>>
>>322600790
Are Xbox controllers compatible with PCSX2? Or do I specifically need a dualshock?
>>
>>322601456
The DS4 also has shitty ergonomics and the left stick is in the wrong place.
>>
>>322600593
If you're gonna buy an Xbone controller, get the one of the newer ones with the improved bumpers and the 3.5mm headphone jack.
>>
>>322601608
personal preference
for me, ds4 works for everything but shooters
>>
>>322601456
hm, can you use ps4 controllers now with PC ? last time i checked you could only go for PS3 with something like Motionjoy or whatever was it called... i actually have a PS4 so that would be practical, but the Xbone controller is better for my taste, too bad other thn their controllers they suck ass.
>>
got me the elite controller for 150€
can't go back to anything else anymore
>>
>>322600593
They sell one that comes with a wire and that works great with my PC
>>
what about steam controllers?
>>
>>322602461
thats the point, i dont want a freaking wire...
i read a bit and i find out about an adapter that costs half the price of the Xbone controller, that enables to use the wireless controller you bought already... and it only works with motherfucking windows 10, fucking kidding me ?
>>
>>322602789
An update has made it compatible with as old as Win 7
>>
>>322602336
https://github.com/Jays2Kings/DS4Windows/releases
makes it act like a 360 controller
>>
>>322600593
Get a wired 360 controller, they're much more usable and cheaper than xbox one controllers.
>>
>>322600593
Don't do it, while it does have better D-Pad than 360 the build quality and plastics are utter shit, buy 360 or something else (or that Elite version if you're retard).
>>
>>322601589
Playing P3FES with XBone controller no problem, see no reason why 360 shouldn't work.
>>
I use a Logitech F310. It's a perfectly fine controller and cheaper than a DS4 or Xbone controller.
>>
>>322600593
I'd say get a PS4 controller.

360 is shit for anything apart from modern console ports.
Xbone controller needs proprietary shit.
DS3, which I use, is great but has unusable shoulder buttons that make some games hell.

That or get one of the Logitech Rumblepad type controllers. I still find myself busting that out most of the time since it just werks when it comes to older games. And the analog switch button is godsend.

Get this one. I have one and its the best controller I've ever used hands down. Also with some headphones plugged in the sound is actually pretty crisp. It's a fuckong life saver when you're trying to play something like Battlefield 4 at 2 in the morning.
>>
Get DS3 and Xinput Wrapper. It's best for emulation, 2D games and fighting.
>>
I wish I could use a Xbox One controller on my PS4.

I fucking hate triggers on controllers.
>>

Like the a generic micro-USB cable?
>>
>>322603551
No. Like a $24.99 wireless dongle that only works on Win 10 last time I checked.
>>
I got this one for PC. Liked how it looks
>>

>>
>>322602657
to be honest, i was looking at them, since my main problem with the console controllers is that i suck dick at aiming with them, but i love every other aspect of them, but since its new im not gona jump into it til i hold one in my hands
>>
>>322603756
That controller is 100% pure sex.
>>
>>322603947
If you want to actually get full use out of your controller. Yes.
>>
>>322603947
OP here, to be wireless it requires, yes.
>>
>>322604139
Getting "full use" of your DS4 requires charging it every two hours. :^)
>>
>>322604228
And I can do it with a 1 dollar bluetooth adapter.

If you're poor, you should consider picking up a different hobby.

lol

Lel. Not everyone uses their mother's credit card to buy games, lad.
>>
>>322603673
Was patched on Win 7 and Win 8/8.1 a while ago anon, get better at checking
>>
>>322600593
I have a wired 360 controller that I bought six years ago and it works perfectly fine.

Not only is the 360 a good controller, it will be cheaper.

You'd be a retard to get an xbone controller. It brings nothing.
>>
>>322604560
yeah... was checking it out, i would like to buy it but i dont play that much games on PC that uses a controller that it would worth it for me i think...
>>
>>322604960
yeah i had a 360 controller for like a month, i really liked it, but the One controller works better for me, since its not brand new its not that much expensive then the 360 one, the only thing that makes me consider things is the motherfucking wireless adapter...
>>
>>322605247
Every pc games are compatible with a controller anon. Just get it, it's more than worth it
>>
>>322605484
yes i know they are compatibe, tho my fucking aiming is not compatible with controllers... using keyboard and mouse for like 15 years now really makes you get used to that shit, when i play fighting and hns/andventure games, i would prefer a controller, but the precise aiming will never work for me with a controller.
>>
>>322601589
Any windows compatible controller should work. But you might have rare issues when you need specific features like pressure sesitive face buttons.
>>
>>322600593
I have a cheap Logitech gamepad and I'm more than fine with it. It may not be as good as xbox/ps4 controllers, but most of the time it makes no difference to me. I also have a Wii U pro controller, but I didn't even bother trying to use it.
So when buying a controller for PC don't forget that 3d party is a thing (technically MS and Sony are also 3d party on PC platform). And cheap doesn't always equal shit.
>>
>>322607182
how would be MS third party to PC ? dont be an idiot please...
>>
>>322607182
Microsoft is third party ? WTF mate !?
>>
>>322607337
MS doesn't own PC as a platform. It does produce the most popular OS for it, but that's it.
>>
>>322607802
Because games aren't released on Windows...
>>
>>322607337
>>322607596

>Microsoft owns 'PC' as a concept

You're as silly as Applefags.
>>
>>322608167
Alot of PC games as well as most emulators are also available on Linux.
I'm pretty sure OP uses Windows, but that doesn't mean that there are no alternatives.
That's the same point I had with controllers. You don't have to go strictly with MS or Sony controllers.
>>
>>322603756
I'm not a fan of the gold, but monochrome buttons always look nice.
I have the regular white controller.
>>
>>322603756
Gold button is a little gay, but the rest admittedly looks really good. Like out of a sci-fi movie.
>>
>>322600593
they made an adapter you'd have to buy separate
>>
>>322600593
you can use it wireless on windows 7 and up if you buy the dongle
>>
>>322602657
Not available in my country :\

Id get it if i could, but i ended up getting a 360 controller since its plug and play on W10.
>>
wait, can we use wii u pro controller on pc? for realz?
>>
>>322605413
Any wireless 360 controller can work wirelessly on pc as well with a $10 aftermarket adapter or $19 official ms adapter.
>>
>>322600740 no you can use the xb1 controller with the USB cable... thats the one I'm using for steam..

>>322607802
retards, Windows is Microsoft, so is the fucking Xbox, thats why you dont need 6241 apps/programs and shit to run their fucking product on their own fucking OS.
>>
>>322611523
Not out of the box, I think. You'll probably need to install some additional shit.
>>
so should I buy a x360 or a xbone controller?
>>
>>322612492
You also don't need 6241 apps/programs and shit to run most 3rd party PC controllers.
>>
>>322612624
you need zero to run a Box controller if you are not a literal retard and use windows
>>
>>322612528
like DS4tool? shit, this is neat
>>
>>322612769
Not sure. Probably something more Nintendo specific. Google is your friend.
>>
>>322612730
As opposed to ONE to run just about every other gamepad.
Oh no! Can't handle a two second download and five second install?

Consolekiddies plz go.
>>
they're selling the xbox one controller and pc wireless receiver bundled now. i just got mine today
>>
>>322600593
DS4 > 360 > Xbone

360 has the bonus modifier of being cheap
>>
>>322602336
You get ds4win and can do tons of shit with it, change light settings, use touchscreen like a laptop trackpad with both mouse buttons, I know I can see motion data but no idea if it can be used practically
>>
>>322612730
I don't get what your problem is. If you really want to use Xbox controller, then go for it. I use logitech one. Just like xbox controller it works out of the box, never required any drivers or additional software and never had any compability issues. In fact it has even less compability issues since you can switch between directinput (for older games) and xinput for new games. It also cost like twice as cheap.
>>
>>322613003
I'm a PC kid since i know vidya, and for example to run a PS4 controller you need to download 2, i cant even say its twice as much as you need with a box cause 2x0=0
and yes, i like my PC as clean as possible, so avoiding any kind of installation that isnt a must.
console kiddie, nice buzzword.
>>
>>322613585
PS3/4 and Wii - yes, they would require additional software to run properly.
Controllers that were made specifically for PC usualy don't require anything. Just like PC keyborads and mice. They just use standard built-in Windows drivers.

I still can't seem to get mine to connect. I've followed all of the steps on the website and tried a few alternate methods I found on YouTube, but my computer still refuses to recognize the controller and it's drivers. I'm on 7 right now. How did you get yours working anon? Also, the cord I was using was from the xbone rechargeable battery kit. Could it be the cord that was the problem?

Would using a 360 controller with the wireless dongle or a ds4 over Bluetooth have less input lag? I'm guessing the 360,and I have currently been using it over the ds4 for comparability reasons, but even with the transform able dpad the dpad is still shit and frustrating for emulation

>>
>>322618349
If you're not playing on multi-player, aiming with a controller is not a problem though. It just need some time to get use to it just like when you change your mouse for a more or less precise one
>>
I like both the Xbox and DS controllers. I have used the DS4 on my PC for the past two years and I think it's a great controller, but I have noticed some serious hand cramping (blame the claw, Souls games) but it's a great controller imo.

I got the Xbone wireless dongle over the weekend and put in like 10 hours of the Witcher 3 and I am loving how it feels. Very comfortable, but I haven't used it in as many games as I have the DS4 - but it seems like it's a good controller for sure.
>>
>>322600593
360 controller is great. Does the job. You know you are getting quality.

Owning both 360 and Xbone and thus the controllers... I'd say Xbone controller is clearly better. At first I was indifferent and saying "just save the money and get 360 controller" on these posts. But just get the Xbone controller. It just feels better. The subtle improvements that are detectable when you hold it for a few minutes don't make it seem better than 360 controller for the few minutes that you hold it, but when you play on your PC for a few hours straight, going back to the 360 controller is just like "wow, Xbone controller is a lot better." Also, the Dpad is better. I play fighting games on Dpad and switched to Xbone cause the Dpad so much better for MKX.

I'd say just get the Xbone controller. Also... why even worry about wireless? What's a cord anyways? And then you don't ever have to worry about batteries.

In all honesty, PS4 controller is really good but I don't know about PC support for that. So just get Xbone controller. PS4 controller is significantly better than PS3 controller, which shouldn't be considered.
>>
>>322600593
If you've got long fingers or big hands, use XboxOne controller. I can't use the PlayStation controllers because they're so small, and they force my hand into a very weird posture and they end up hurting my hand after a while. If you have short fingers and small hands, PlayStation controller will be perfect for you.
>>
>>322601456
>makes a click sound
No?
>>
>>322621181
DS4 has PC wrappers.
It still doesn't officially support Xinput yet though, which Sony needs to get through their skulls.
The only controller with a DS shape with Xinput nativity is Logitech controllers, but they have their own drivers.
Xbox controllers still on top of quality and native support.
>>
>>322601456
>>dpad is still less accurate than ds4

nigger what are you smoking?
>>
Why the fuck won't Sony support Xinput already?

Literally the PC standard, they are aware of PC games, if they truly want to rank up money, they better have native support.
>>
>>322615028
I really do like this pad, I got to try it at a buddies place a few days ago and it's pretty nice and responsive. My only major complaint about it though, is that the analog stick and the upper left "d-pad" should have had their placement switched.
>>
>>322615436
From what I've experienced, the input lag from both is pretty much negligible in comparison to each other. Just go with what feels most comfortable to use.
