I think the idea is for you to not be able to get all the pokemon in the games right away. you would get the ones in your area first, then if you ever happen to travel to unique places, then you can just whip out your GO. I think you can trade for ones you dont have too

Don't expect too much on that point. There will be a cooldown to heal pokemons, and you will probably have to pay if you don't want to wait.
