I want to replay the series really badly. 999 is probably my favorite story in any game in the past 5 years. Glad a 3rd was finally confirmed. Wasn't it cancelled/on hiatus for awhile?

Yep. It went into limbo around Feb 2014 and was officially revealed to be in development July 2015.

So Blick Winkel is confirmed at the end of VLR, and it sounds like it'll be the same "trick the player" type deal.

Been replaying 999 the past few days and you really do notice a lot of subtle hints on your second run through. Its probably my favorite puzzle game/visual novel of all time, wish there were more games like it.
