Yeah, a horror game that's been in development for fucking ever
The dev team rarely posts updates, but when they do, they claim that they're not dead and that they're working at a good pace
I probably would have given up hope a while ago but they said that they're not going to do Early Access bullshit, the reason it's in development so long is that they want to polish it as much as possible for release

One of Elite Dangerous' biggest criticisms is that there is nothing to do and that the Galaxy is quantity > quality, that and the grind is piss boring. No Man's Sky has even less to do and even more of a grind, but for some reason people won't get bored of it because they've been convinced by non stop press about muh gorillion planets.

I'm sorry if I dislike shallow grindfests.

Well considering I've spent around 50 hours in ED exploring I don't think it's that much of a problem. I've spent hours exploring in cube world which despite not being updated I think my money was well spent because of the fun and time I spent in that game. I don't think, knowing my track record with games that focus on exploration that I'll be bored within the week of this.
But then again, you are an anon who clearly has the superior tastes and superior intellect that I should not doubt you one bit. So thank you.

How come everyone who tries to start an indie game these days has

a) A fucked up livelihood with an overwhelming amount of "life stuff" and "obligations"

or

b) Ridiculously poor health/ on the verge of death

Is it because it's easier to bail out after taking tons of money from people?
>>
>>322550824
E:D would be fine its procedural generation was actually good.
It's incredibly lacking and vastly inferior to Space Engine, a free game made by ONE russian guy.

Yeah but why do the people breaking in always have to be ones that have terminal turbo cancer or could fall dead anytime within the project development period?

>Extremely active devlog of your favorite WIP indie title suddenly falls silent
>Next post is by a friend/ family member of the death telling people they're dead
>Worse, they just disappear and never post again

The worst is shit like them being hit by a car or something that's blatantly fake. It's pretty obvious sometimes that the pressure got too large and they just left everything and dipped, but they needed a convenient lie.
>>
>>322552254
Not really. Also with NMS there's both not much to do and little depth to what there is available.
>>
>>322542438

Kinda feel like they missed what was so good about Half Life by making Half Life 2 take place in a fucking city instead of a research facility
>>
>>322552028
Knowing a few indie devs, none of them want to bail on people, and a lot of them have ongoing clusterfucks in their lives that aren't their fault. Making games is a way for them to escape their shitty life. In this case, by indie I mean one or two unknown people trying to grind out a game, not companies that are swimming in kikestarter funding because they're connected to some hype nostalgia IP.

The problem with companies like Heart Machine and Chucklefuck is that they're led by an ideas guy with an ambitious 30,000 foot design with little in the way of specific mechanics, and they don't hire enough fucking programming talent, and they have no clue about how to even evaluate good programming talent. So they hire a bunch of artists, instead. They've never actually developed a game before, so they make rookie mistakes like crazy. All of them should first develop a big mod, like a Mount & Blade TC or an expansion-pack level mod for Skyrim.

Now, fuckers like Tim Schafer have no excuse at all and should die in a fire.

Not even close. The only issue space games have right now is a lack of depth and features. Something that only needs developers to actually DO rather than just fucking around expanding the breadth of the game without adding in depth.

>>322557436
It's been strongly hinted that nms was delayed till June so they could add some big new features. Let's wait and see what happens.

I'm aware, doesn't mean they shouldn't act like an ass about it. As much as the big universe is awesome, I'd like to be given the option to run into friends. They do provided "online features" and Sony themselves is funding it, they gotta add a function one way or another to make Sony go full jew.
