Cerberus went from a small rouge spec ops group using tiny prefab labs in the middle of nowhere to some massive well funded organization in 2 to some super army in 3. Cerberus wasn't consistent at all.
>>
I distinctively remember in the original Dragon Age Sten saying something along the lines of you can't even judge a species, a people, or a country. That there's no such thing as a themepark explanation of how an entire species thinks and operates, because ultimately they are all composed of people and there's no reason to believe an entire non-human race will have the same mindset when even humans who live in the same city managed to accomplish such a feat.

Which is a pretty obvious point looking in hindsight, but it's something that Bioware always failed spectacularly at doing.

>you can't stereotype a species, now allow me to tell you the stereotype of my species.
>>
I never played any of those and I like most of the 90s and 00s RPGs. Should I get ME1?

>The reapers have control of the reapers, an unparalleled assault force and the reapers use them to kidnap humans instead of securing the relay where the reapers will soon be arriving, delaying their conquest by 6 months.

>It is mentioned several times that the reapers first target in every cycle is the citadel, to stop any organised resistance while the reapers divide and conquer all races. This is completely disregarded in 3 as the Citadel is attacked twice during mass effect 3, by cerberus both times.

You can see Mass Effect 1 as being a spiritual successor to KotOR, if that's the sort of thing you like, sure, go ahead.

P.S. Anyone who prefers 2 over 3 is just wrong. 3 had better story (in which things actually happened that mattered), better characters (Javik alone is better than the entirety of the daddy issues crew in 2), better gameplay (self explanatory), and it had a fucking rad multiplayer mode.

Dragon age Origins was a nice, solid game.

Kirkwall could have been so much fun and full of personality being a lawless city

Inquisition could have been better without the open world. It had some great stuff with Solas but that only came in with the fucking DLC

Dragon Age could have been so good. Why did Bioware have to go down the shitter.

Its funny how easily they could have rewritten it. Make it that cerberus is made by 3 great families (which was a part of why they chose the name cerberus) and that recently the families were split apart by differences in how to proceed. TIM was one of the good guys while the cerb agents you fought in 1 were of the bad splinters.
>>
ME3 will never get my time or money, because they ruined the franchise so thoroughly with it. Tali's face is a stock photo, a nine year old made of holograms is the controlling thing behind the Reapers, and perhaps worst of all to me at least, they ruined the Geth. They had a good thing going there with every individual Geth being an identical VI program with their consciousness being a result of networking, the only difference between one Geth and the other being the data they have available. Then they ruined it by treating the Geth's physical platforms as "a Geth" and giving that an individual identity. Worth noting: having an individual identity without being interfaced with other Geth is a concept that absolutely terrifies the Geth. They seek consensus and contact above all else.

They ruined the Geth as much as they ruined Tali in ME3. Those were my two favorite things in the Mass Effect universe, and now they're both ruined.
>>
To see ME1 tainted saddens my heart

The geth were getting upgraded by reaper technology allow them to individualism. if you chose to terminate the geth, the majority of crew members like that decision.. I dont get what op is trying to imply. The only portion where bioware attempted to get the player to sympathize with the geth is when you penetrated their severs.

the base game is trash, but with all the dlcs it's decent.

Why was fucking crewmembers in ME2 and 3 a-okay? Especially regarding Cortez and Traynor, who were Alliance officers below you in rank. That shit wouldn't fly. Only reason you could fuck Kaidan and Ashley in ME1 was because you were technically rogue after stealing the ship and weren't bound by alliance fraternization regulations.
>>
sucks that everybody online seems to side with the geth. Falling right into the Bioware propaganda what they want you to pick. Fuck that, geth are such shit that you fight them in all three games. They're literally waiting to get hacked by reapers. I'll give Bioware this: they made a good decision to make it evil toasters vs. space gypsies because I'd normally never choose gypsies over anything. But at least you can't hack into gypsies and have them start trying to exterminate organic life
>>
The issue was the fact that they initialized the geth to the point where in-universe they couldn't be blamed for their action because they're portrayed as impressionable innocents.

If both tali and Legion are alive it's obvious they want you to push for peace or to kill the quarians.

quarians initiated the attack on their 'peaceful superstructure' for no fucking reason when the reapers arrive
Tali and Legion constantly question shepard why there cant be peace
Quarians constantly fuck up, either making "evil" choices such as sacrificing people for SCIENCE! or shit that's unsavory to the player like nearly killing you to blow up the dreadnaught
Legion constantly goes "look! we're alive by borrowing their technology(despite saying that borrowing tech was retarded and liking their current situation in the last game)"

The only good thing to come out the quarian/geth arc is punching the admiral and telling the quarians to fuck off in the renegade peace option.

the series isn't the greatest ever and has alot of flaws. Especially including 3. But the world is extremely interesting to me for some reason. I like just learning about whats going and learning more about characters. Was very upset about 3 and I'm sure I'm be upset with 4.

The Geth had been weakened severely after the events of Mass Effect 1 and the years leading up to Mass Effect 2. Meanwhile the Quarians apparently had tech that allowed them to attack with confidence because of that super smart quarian who gives you the chargey gun.

I don't think the Mass Effect is super airtight, but they obviously planned out the Krogan Genophage and Geth War since Mass Effect 2.

There are interesting concepts here and there, sure, but I owe that more to the vastness of the amount of material available than due to any intrinsic value of the source material.

I love Darth Caedus, for example, but I don't see him as anything that could only exist in Star Wars. Star Wars is just THE cool codifier in common consciousness for space empires and aliens duking it out with one another with a tad of mysticism thrown in.
>>
>>322548075
I disagree, the approach they avoided worked in Mass Effect 2.

They played it safe.

Can't remember which game it was but tali said they shot down every ship that tried to negotiate with them, whether it be council or quarian. They just wanted to be left alone and staying in the perseus veil was the best way of doing so.

Yeah, Tali is the only one we spend real time with. Quarians as a whole seem too unwilling to get over something that happened decades ago, especially in 3 when it's the worst possible time thanks to the Reapers.

I mean, I guess humanity could very well act the same in the situation, but I don't think that was the original plan, another big change with different writers like the dark matter stuff.
>>
>>322548201
>weakened in the years leading up to Mass Effect 2

Uh, how? The Heretics and the main bulk of the Geth population had parted on peaceful terms and had pretty much no interaction. The Geth main bulk was still chilling and building up their resources while the Heretics were going about their stupid crusade with Sovereign.

Even after Sovereign fell, the Heretics didn't go back and wage war on the other Geth or anything. There was no infighting. They planned to unite the Geth with the Reaper code that would change their thinking, but you foiled that in ME2. So if anything, they would have gotten much, much stronger leading up to and after ME2, depending on your actions since you could just realign the Heretics back with the main Geth.

The Quarian-Geth conflict is completely fucking retarded in its progression through the games.

you are wrong, 3 can't exist without 2 because 2 is where the journey happens, where all the characters are developed. 1 was a good start a good setup, 2 is the best part, the actual Mass effect game, and for reasons you probably are too young to understand, 2 has a story better than both 1 and 3 combined, that side-plot against the collectors was better and more consistent than everything to do with the reapers directly. 2 has the best characters, best atmosphere, best ending, best gameplay (fuck you EA forcing people to play online and integrating online things into single player), best soundtrack, and it's the main, the most important piece in the trilogy.
Get cancer and die

So you'd rather destroy the reapers and fulfill your revenge fantasy than acquire an intergalactic overpowered police force? Make the people fighting on earth get stranded forever? Leaving rogue elements everywhere like Cerberus sleeping cells? Leaving the Krogans to their fate when there's a chance they'll rise again or that the fucking turians will want to massacre them again as soon as you are not looking? Would you not help rebuild , police and secure the galaxy?

Controlling the reapers is the only sane option for people who have the maturity to see that sometimes the best decision isn't driven by moral stand or personal feelings
