Ever since normalfags and retards figured out what 60fps means it is and always will be the golden standard and they don't give a shit about anything beyond it, thus devs won't bother trying to surpass it because itd take effort and it's a convenient enough marketing phrase as is
If developers cared enough about achieving higher frame rates, 30fps would already be long gone, but it's still everywhere

Slightly unrelated but I played on PC my entire life and PC is in deep shit now in terms of quality.
Arkham knight, AC Unity, JC3, all barely playable, shit is grim, it never felt so much like a second class platform and I really don't feels like supporting anymore.
I'm really thinking about getting a PS4 on mid gen.

I for one am happy consoles keep the games aimed at certain hardware benchmarks. I haven't had to upgrade since 2010 and despite games taking up monumentally more hard drive space it doesn't look like it will be changing any time soon.
