Trust me, keep it at 99 cents (permanently marked down from $5 or however you want to do it) and you'll get a fuckload more purchases. There are threads over at /r/gamedeals specializing in one dollar games that make a profit via trading cards. Also, selling a VN for five dollars is a difficult sell anyway with all the excellent $3 indie games (Bastion, Time Force, etc.)

For the record, this is why reviews should exist, and it's one of their functions. If we love a game, then we recommend it and explain why. If we hate it, same deal.
If we used to love it, but it changed, or there was a massive game-ruining update, or something happened that prevents the game from launching, we should be able to thumb it down, then have an explanation ready as to why. i always enjoy long reviews with thumbs down, because it shows that they tried to love the game, and they understand why people would take issue, or new players who wouldn't like it.
After all, a Negative review is far more insightful on average than a positive one.
