Kill the first wave of spiders and then try to do as much damage you can to Rom, after she teleports the first time, don't kill the spiders anymore. Try to have everything in your screen, just one spider is enough to fuck you up. And then just hit Rom until she dies, while trying to keep the spiders in one side of the screen and avoiding the "dive" attacks.

I ignored the spiders completely and just stayed close to him.
He starts thrasing at you when he's at around 30% hp, so hit and run from there.
Usual Souls game boss rules apply, don't get greedy with hits, etc.

I never really had problems with Rom, I always took the pussy way out. Just take your time and kill the small spiders one by one and only after they are gone attack Rom herself.
Roms attacks are easy to dodge, I think they even changed the meteor attack so that you can dodge it by just constantly running when she casts it. All you had to do before the change was dodge left-right-left-right and you didn't get hit.

1. Kill the spiders first before you even worry about Rom. Attack their backs and not their heads. They're very slow so you can easily just sprint behind them and kill them one by one, using hit and run tactics. Make sure you keep an eye on Rom for when he signals his attacks.
2. When Rom flips over onto his back, run away. You don't need to run too far but make sure you run a good distance.
3. When Rom stands up towards the sky, start sprinting around him and -not- directly away from him, as the missiles he summons will have a higher chance to hit you when you simply run straight away instead of towards him or around him.
Here's a video of my first attempt at him. I make several mistakes and I drag out the fight longer than it needs to be, but I think you'll be able to understand what I mean. Be sure to get some paper!

Anyone who knows what they're doing will ignore the spiders. They are only there as a distraction.
I beat him easily when the game came out. Played again recently for the dlc and am having a ton of trouble with rom.
If you really need help /vg/ is very helpful. Got a guy on there to help me with Orphan and we destroyed him, most of the players from the general are good.

Killed him today second try OP. First try I just tried to rail on Rom and ignored the spiders in phase 1. I got raped. Second try I cleared the first wave of spiders then took Rom to like half health then when she teleported I ignored the spiders and finished her off. If she rears back she's going to summon those falling ice blocks or w/e they are. I just kind of ran forward and slightly to the left and they all missed. Also Bolt paper is your friend. Just keep an eye on the spiders they're mostly passive but if you get hit you're probably going to die if you're unlucky.
Can't believe I waited this long to get a PS4 and play this the game is dank.

Nobody ever said Rom was hard. Fighting Rom in the chalice dungeons was a bitch because of the confined space. Rom itself is piss easy.
Anyone else love Rom but hate cooping her? She's a really neat fight with a lot of ways to approach it, and she's been nerfed into the ground since release, but you still get so many idiots who just run up and spam R1 who get ripped apart early on.But I'm a weirdo who loves most of BB's boss fights.

You're entitled to your opinions, but I think Ludgwig is one of the best Souls bosses From has designed period. Basically Artorias-tier in terms of hit-boxes, attacks, animations and just how entertaining the fight itself is.
Killing bosses like Rom really makes me feel like a shitter sometimes. Don't get me started on Ebrietas.

Heavy armor on her legs; bait her into attacking so she slams her head/arms to the ground. That's where you'll do the most damage.
Alternatively, if you have the Cannon or high Bloodtinge, shot her in the face until you can visceral her. Repeat.
Upgraded Tonitrus (get it from the unseen village if you haven't) and bait the spiders away. Hit him on the sides.

The head is weak but there's also a blind spot behind its back left leg. It can still stomp but thats easy to dodge. Don't move if it jumps, it can't hit you when it lands.
