Do you anons think this game will hold up once it comes out? Is this going to be another Spore-situation?
I want to like this game, I really do, but I'm worried. They said it would be ready at the end of 2015, and now its in June. Does this reflect some big problem with the game they haven't worked out yet?
>>322488738
You must be all kinds of fucking stupid if you think it's going to be anything other than mediocre.
>>322489106
This. I was bored from watching the demos even. The concept seems cool, but will be short lived in practice.
They're not facing a great big problem, the game itself is just gonna be boring, so they're probably thinking of how to sell it better so they can actually make a profit.
>>322488738
People that have followed it and knows what the game promised and what are its limitationss will buy it and won't be surprised by it.
People that are expecting a space MMO will be disappointed and will shitpost on /v/ about how devs are liars.
>a million billion procedurally generated planets
Exciting stuff
Really
>>322489750
Aren't like, 90% of the planets going to be lifeless rocks? And then 90% of the life-filled planets are going to be very primitive.
Realism =/= Fun
>>322489492
people keep saying this as if the only reason to dislike the game will be because the customer didn't research it, and not because the game fails on its own merits.
So what do you do in the game?
>>322491005
Supposedly there's something awesome at the center of the universe for players to find, but very few people will ever make it there.
Mostly you just dick around in space, which is why storyfags would probably kill themselves if they got stuck with this game.
>>322491005
Explore planets. You'll see amazing things like
Red: trees/oceans/grass
Blue: trees/oceans/grass
Green: trees/oceans/grass
and combinations of the three
Anyone have any screenshots showing off what space will look like? All I've seen are just funky colored planets.
>>322491273
I hope it won't just be a boring 3d Starbound as far as exploration is concerned.
giant levels with a bunch of generic rocks and nothing to do
It's Spore all over again.
>>322491536
It'll be worse than Starbound.
Starbound at least has some semblance of progression, looting, crafting, constructing etc
No Man's Sky has actively avoided doing any of that.
>>322493461
But I only care about space exploration. I just want a more polished Space Engine.
>>322493461
But there is all the things you cited apart from constructing.
Why can't people stop lying about the game ?
>>322488738
These games will continue to fail until devs realize that procedural generation is not a replacement for a story.
They all feel like open world games after you've finished the main quest. Lots of shit out there, but nothing to do.
>>322488738
It seems like they've deliberately kept info very vague, most likely so they can say: "Well we gave you what we said we would!", which is probably going to be over 9000 boring samey planets and the same stale faction/crafting/combat system wherever you go. The premise is interesting and I'll probably keep my eye on it, but this sort of game isn't one that can be made by such a small and relatively unknown dev team.
Either that or it turns out to be the next Minecraft, but that's pretty unlikely.
I like exploration as much as the next guy but I'm afraid that won't be enough. By the looks of it the native flora and fauna leave you alone, you might as well be a floating camera at this point.
At least vaporware Star Citizen has some modicum of gameplay.
>N-no variety
Apart from the samey hill planet with trees, it does looks godo.
>>322494125
>godo
Well did I fuck that up.
>>322493778
>But there is all the things you cited apart from constructing.
You can't be fucking serious.
>>322493609
this. Space Engine is cool, but it's not soft enough sci-fi for me.
>>322494125
looks great. I just wanna fly around and visit alien worlds.
>>322489750
Elite Dangerous is already like this and look how deep the game is.
>>322494221
Progressing is confirmed, you start at the edge of the galaxy and you have to work your way to the center. Planets and space get more dangerous as you get closer to it, some planets have poisonous atmosphere and you'll need protection to even land on them.
Looting is confirmed, destroyed ships will drop their cargo and money.
Crafting is also confirmed, although I have only heard some extremely rudimentary things about it, stuff like "combine X and Y to get Z and sells Z at an higher price". Although it might tie with the upgrading system that is also confirmed.
I can probably find source if you want ?
>>322494329
>looks great. I just wanna fly around and visit alien worlds.
The only reason i'm getting it
plus I have an autism for anything upgrade related, and as far as I know you can upgrade your ship and stuff like that
>>322494686
>I can probably find source if you want ?
Knock yourself out, but you'll find each and every aspect you've outlined is so incredibly shallow that it's laughable.
>>322494989
This. If you honestly think it'll have any substance to it you're naïve as fuck. It's just not going to happen with a bajillion meme planets
>>322495249
>meme planets
Holy fuck are you autistic? That makes no sense whatsoever.
>>322494989
I was only responding to the post saying there was NO progressing / looting / crafting, at no point depth was mentioned. Even then, how the fuck is the looting and progressing aspect I've described "shallow" ? This is exactly like the system used by 95% of games involving loot or progression.
>>322494125
And I can't wait to see them over and over and over and over and over again
>>322495339
>he doesn't know a meme game would consist of meme planets
>>322495453
This game might end up being shitty, but I don't think its going to be a meme game senpai
>>322489750
>a million billion procedurally generated planets
>million billion
I think I heard this phrase before.
>>322495374
Youre wasting your breath.
Even though actual information seems to be very lacking /v/ has already confirmed that no mans sky is shit
>there are big red beacons
>we wonmt show you what they are though ;)
That means either its a shitty quest or it's going to be the same four things every time
This game looks like it will be nice for comfy space flying and pretty planets, and nothing else
>>322496514
>comfy space flying
You had me at >comfy
Elite Dangerous has awesome planetary landings. Will have atmospheres and Earth like planets somewhere in 2016. Star Citizen has a nice proof of concept which looks also awesome already.
I fear, No Man's Sky is a little too late by now with its goofy looking dinosaurs.
>>322497756
Haven't the ED devs flat out told that they're not planning on having a finished game in less than ten fucking years??
>>322488738
Silly anon, no games hold up when you get excited about carefully designed pre-release promotional material.
Want to make it better? Stop exposing yourself to games before they come out.
>>322498095
Don't know about that. They'll be adding more and more features along the way, and it probably takes another gpu generation to render believable earthlike planets with cities and shit.
>>322491260
Game will be data mined and the surprise ruined within hours and f release.
>>322498705
>adding more features
And charging another 60 dollars for each one, yeah
>>322498903
How do you even data mine this, it's all just math and shit ?
>Guys ! On planet #21545121215 there's a cave with a secret gun in it !
>>322499359
There's probably only going to be the same couple of cool things on every planet, which will get discovered in a day.
Otherwise every single preview they've done of this game wouldn't be "those big read beacons are cool but we wouldn't want to spoil the surprise ok"
>>322499359
If there's cutscenes, someone will find all of them, easily.
>>322489492
This
>>322490691
The game could fail on its own merits alright, but it's not hard to do a little research and see what the game is really offering, and so far, most people complaining about it are people saying thy're selling lies, which is ludicrous.
Only a few said the idea was boring to them.
I can play Pioneer Space Sim for hours, just flying to different worlds and doing odd jobs. With fully explorable planets here, I think I'll have plenty of fun.
>>322500118
But you can't leave the ship and walk around. Also no dinosaurs.
>>322500276
That's what I'm saying. Since I already have tons of fun in Pioneer, I'll have even more fun in No Man's Sky.
>>322500840
Especially when it supports PSVR.
Good bye real world.
>>322494125
Look at the variety
LOOK AT IT
BUY OUR GAME
BUY OUR FUCKING GAME DUDE
WHAT ARE YOU? A FUCKING CIS SHITLORD
BUY MY GAME
You know when I was about 8, I played the first Halo game right when it came out (yes Im aware its not very good, have patience.) and one thing will always stick with me from that.
Seeing the rest of the Ring hanging in the sky when you first land on it and the idea of exploring this big cool alien structure. Like I wanted to hop back into that craft you crash in and explore on my own the whole ring.
That what No Man's Sky is. Its a straightforward, no talky parts, no tutorial space exploration game. Just hop in my own personal spacecraft and go exploring for stuff to upgrade my suit and guns and spaceship itself. Look at cool animals, shoot at things that remind of the Sentinels, fly around in space at my own pace with no one fucking bugging me to go do some dumb fucking quest I dont give a shit about. Not very complicated, just a simple gameplay loop and general direction in which to explore. Its all I ever wanted. A fly anywhere in a spaceship game that doesnt hold my hand but isnt autism level complicated that Im not expecting the world from.
Im excited.
>>322501323
Your projection sure showed me, anon.
>>322501323
Shit anon, that's really good, did you use some program to sort the pictures for you or did you do it manually ? It's pretty aesthetic, I like it.
>>322501791
This is my sentiment exactly. I had a moment like yours playing Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. I always just wanted to get into Slave 1 and fly around the galaxy.
>>322488738
I think this will be a good game if you are bored out of your mind.
Explore planets a bit untill you know what to do.
>>322502049
10 minutes in paint. It could be better, but the magnifier tool makes it hard to do it fast without fucking up edges.
ORIGINAL THE GAME 10/10
>>322502137
>Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
You are officially my nigga, that game was the best.
Only 10% of all planets will have life.
Most are barren moons, with endless planes of nothingness. They only sound you'll hear will be your own breathing.
>>322502343
Like that was original you shitposter
I'm still holding out for VR support
I will buy this game and a Vive/Rift to moment this comes out if it does
>>322502774
You sure thats the 'only' game you want VR for?
>>322502343
You're an autistic retard
>>322502886
You got me. I want to try War Thunder too
>>322503641
Won't that require be able to read lots of tiny gauges?
>>322503932
Dunno, the tech demo seemed sweet
