I think that was the whole message of the game. Is you have very limited controls. It is cool to see how your choices change the world, but ultimately they are just cosmetic changes that don't affect the inevitable outcome.

I had a hilarious bug Frank gets shot in the leg and wobbles back into his RV, then I rewind and do the conversation so it ends well but the Frank who was shot is there and he is screaming while trying to remove the bullet while at the same time there is another Frank outside talk to me. I wish I had a video of it was pretty comical to have this serious conversation about finding Rachel when you hear muffled screaming from the duplicate Frank inside the RV. This is the result of the bug.

Last episode was a slap in the face and you could see it coming from episode 3.

When I finished ep4 and saw that they still kept raising the stakes instead of working towards a conclusion, I was sure that ep5 was going to be a dissappointment, but I didn't expect it so be such an immense disappointment.

It's like they decided on the most disappointing and painfully obvious "plot twist" and resolution possible, and then proceeded to fill up the remaining 2-3 hours of playtime with annoying minigames.

What the fuck was going on there?

Loved the game until ep3, but the ending retroactively spoiled the entire season and made me tend to dislike the game overall.

It really shines in some aspects like presentation and emotional involvement of the player, but the time travel plot is so immensely poorly written that it would have been better if they had just made a teenage thriller without mystery elements.
>>
>>322482180
The last episode was good but the first three sucked and took too long to get there. I didn't really identify with Max blaming herself for the storm. She didn't give herself the power.

>>
Did they already confirm a sequel?
>>
>>322486091
>painfully obvious "plot twist"
I wondered why not more people blamed the teacher. When I played it was only something like 6%.

How can it be more obvious? Mr. Nice Guy who doesn't have a single flaw has the suicidal girl running away from her crying (he only wanted to help)?
Suddenly he has to take an ominous phone call? Such a major character with so little exposition?

And they threw such major red herrings for David as well. If they went a little lighter on him, it would've actually made him suspicious for me. But halfway through episode 2 it seemed like he's the good guy in disguise already.

But I just can't hate on the game. The atmosphere was really amazing. I loved the sit and chill scenes

the game was made by frenchies so maybe they were overplaying what they've seen in American high school movies while at the same time projecting their own national stereotypes into the game.

these kids do exist, but a high school is not made up of them

also if you're as qt as Max it's literally impossible to have no/few friends

Growing up on the Oregon coast, where this game takes place, and having a tsunami drill every monday for my entire life made this town (which reminds me so much of Yachats) not evacuating seem like a bit of a stretch for me too.

THEN AGAIN. We never took those drills seriously and you always see those volcano and major storm documentaries where like half the town refuses to budge because of doubt or some retarded need to cling on to their material possessions or some shit.
>>

No I mean the other people in the town

There are a few lines of dialogue here and there with emphasis on the wrong words which make me think this game really needed a voice director, if nothing else than to give the actors context for any line they were about to say.

I can't remember the episode but in one of her flashbacks she literally said that it is safe on the lighthouse (which seemed absurd to me at the time because we saw it getting crushed by the boat, but I just rolled with it)
>>
>>322488930
It's pretty weird that the tornado actually turned out to be "just" a physical tornado that you can flee from.

After all the buildup, I thought it was a metaphor for the end of the world/universe, as it appears to get worse if you fuck with time too much - making the tornado a mere symptom of the universe falling apart.

Now all of a sudden you're safe by just taking a step to the side?

If they start off the sequel with "turns out you can't just drive away because the tornado is actually a mere symptom of the universe falling apart", I swear to god I'm gonna hurt someone.

Worst ending in the history of fiction

I completed it last night and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The atmosphere was great and I liked the characters. However it was super earnest and some of the dialog was really dodgy, like it had been written by David Cage.

Also Jefferson being some irredeemable raper guy was pretty stupid. The game is full of arseholes but you can understand why (Nathan being a mental with daddy issues, David being a war veteran who thinks he's doing the right thing). Yet here's a horror villain with a fucking rape room/art studio/bomb shelter.

Yeah. It doesn't have to be that complicated. Gravity doesn't need to travel through time for this to work. Gravity is constant, and Max is clearly still being pulled by gravity the whole time she is reversing time.

I think she has the option whether or not to take take the same actions and movements while traveling back.. Maybe she didn't figure out how to move independently while rewinding until later.
Either way, that has nothing to do with her not being effected by gravity.

I think when most people come up with this specific time travel problem, they don't realize that you need a frame of reference for the concept of motion to even make sense. There is no universal center point around which everything moves, and every object is moving in relation to every other object.

It's just that the simplest frame of reference is the Earth.

>>322494832

That's what drives nuts about the game:

Even if you *want* to fill in the blanks, come up with theories, look for clues, to answer some of the more glaring plotholes, there's always some detail that kills any attempt to make sense of the mess that is LiS

If they were at least consistent in their bullshit. But it's clear that they made shit up on the spot throughout the entire game. It's insulting.

Max' position during rewinding is absolutely crucial to the whole time-travelling philosophy that the story runs on. If she goes back, then time is disconnected from space and you can only choose a point in time you rewind to.

If she can stay put, then we're looking at actual hyperdimensional movement - just that Max cannot (yet?) harness the true powers that were given to her.

What I just said may be bullshit on a scientific level, but I just wanted to illustrate that this is not something you can be inconsistent with. It's an essential point about the underlying assumptions about time travelling and the audience already has to make huge concessions in terms of suspension of disbelief here.

Being inconsistent here means you just don't give a fuck.

>>322496134
Except that she doesn't travel back that far without some frame of reference. It's always her immediate area. When it's using a photo, its inside the frame of that picture.

It's mystical time travel, not scientific. So it doesn't need to follow those rules, just be internally consistent, which it is, usually.

Did that (and I thoroughly enjoyed it) until the end when everything fell apart and it became apparent that the writers didn't have a fucking clue what to do themselves. Now - if you allow me to exaggerate a bit: all I can see is flaws.

>It was obviously not so blatantly bad put together that it threw people off, because plots like these exist
Most time travel plots make a few basic assumptions and go with them. Usually it's either "Destiny" or "Butterfly Effect", with a teaspoon of multiverse vs. single-universe on top.

LiS just takes whatever is convenient at any moment and hopes that noone's gonna notice, which apparently worked

Having choices that effect the overall outcome is overrated and would have ruined the story.

Name ANY other alternate endings that would improve the overall story.

Because you're doing it right. Most MLG gamers have to speedrun everything for some odd reason. It sucks when I play a co-op game with my friends who rush through levels.

I liked the idea of the ending that when you do a 100% run you get a special ending where Kate shows up in the bathroom and Nathan gets the fuck out of there before Chloe shows up so Chloe never dies in the first place

>not groping her tit
lost some huge potential there.

Not using your powers could have prevented the storm.
Have the option to continue the game in the universe where William is alive.
There are so many possible alternative endings.

I liked LiS but if you're giving the player options and tell the player that the choices they make matter, at least make it so that the choices actually matter.

that'd be pretty neat.

>There are so many possible alternative endings.
that wouldn't have been

I mean, as alternative endings. But there's only one real ending to every story.

that was fucking hilarious
>>
i read somewhere that the reason the save chloe ending was shorter than the other was because of time/budget constraints and the writers had wanted to flesh it out more, anyone know if thats true
>>
>tfw I never watched or played the Bay ending because I thought I couldn't handle it

after watching so many mmm watcha say parodies of chloe dying I think I'm ready now tho
>>
>>322499102
does anyone know any lets players who played the game like this and found the clues and figured out the ending/mr jefferson?

all I'm seeing is the same bullshit sprint-throughs
>>
>>322498872
That's not my fuckin job.Doing shit like "Oh nothing ever happened cuz time travel"(which is like ending when everything turns out to be a dream) or "fuck the world, don't change the past" ruins the story.
>>322499884
Then you clearly don't know what interactive story is.

And all that bullshit that devs said in the game "EVERY CHOICE MATTER", except it fuckin does not.
